From Dorothy “Digit” Tripp Taylor: Although I have changed jobs since my visit to The Center for Whole Communities, I am still able to interact with the land conservation community in New Hampshire through my position at the Land and Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP – the state program that provides matching grants for land conservation and historic preservation – and by serving on the Outreach and Education Committee of the New Hampshire Land Trust Coalition. Our work to design a workshop about new requirements for accessibility on conserved land has set me thinking back to my time at Knoll Farm. Although a physical disability is different than a non-mainstream ethnic background, I feel as if my time at Knoll Farm made me more aware of the needs of “others.” Thus I find myself highlighting the benefits of new accessibility, rather than its challenging impacts of other aspects of conservation land transactions. So thanks again to Knoll Farm and my fellow participants for that.
