The lands that I manage have the highest moose density in the State; biologists estimate there are eight moose/square mile. It’s a rare day that I don’t see at least five – thankfully no collisions yet! The snowshoeing has been great. Winter recreation is in full swing (yes, even though I’m on snowshoes four days/week at work I still enjoy it on the weekends too!). The local cross country ski trails have been groomed. I climbed Katahdin early last month with new friends – we wore crampons for most of the day. My family is well. Our daughter and son in law are expecting their first child in early February – Lisa and I are pretty excited about that. As a forester, I’ve gotten pretty good at listening to nature and recognizing subtleties that escape many others. Thanks to my experience at Knoll’s Farm, I’ve gotten better at listening to people and interpreting subtleties that had previously escaped me.
