Submitted by DC Black MBA
Service has the power to transform lives, create lasting change, and strengthen communities. When organizations come together with a shared commitment to giving back, the impact can be truly remarkable. One such partnership that exemplifies the power of service is the collaboration between the National Black MBA Association - DC Chapter and Raymond James, a leading financial services firm. Through their shared dedication to community engagement, they are making a significant difference in the lives of individuals and the overall prosperity of the African-American community.
Most recently, the two teamed up to make hygiene bags for the most vulnerable youth in the DMV area. They were able to partner with Sasha Bruce Youthwork and two middle schools – Sousa Middle School in DC and Ernest Just Middle School in Prince George’s County. This project to make 300 bags through the Raymond James Cares initiative turned into making over 500 bags across the three organizations.
Raymond James has a long-standing tradition of giving back to the communities in which they operate. Chris Reese, Operations Manager at Raymond James, explains, "Raymond James has always been committed to giving back to the communities in which we live and work." This commitment is evident in their active involvement in various charitable initiatives. When presented with the opportunity to create hygiene bags for local youth, Raymond James eagerly stepped up to the plate. Reese adds, "The response from our local associates was overwhelming." This initiative is part of Raymond James Cares Month, an annual event that allows associates and advisors to join forces and give back to their communities. In 2022 alone, their volunteers dedicated nearly 7,100 hours of service to over 230 charitable organizations.
The partnership between Raymond James and the DC Black MBA Association is a testament to their shared values and mutual goals. Reese highlights the importance of this collaboration, stating, "The DC Black MBA Association does incredible work! Partnering with an organization committed to creating educational opportunities and economic growth for African-Americans aligns closely with our firm's Pledge to the Black Community." Raymond James' commitment to service, mentorship, and training is an essential part of their ongoing dedication to the African-American community. This partnership serves as a catalyst for positive change and demonstrates the power of collective action.
Moreover, Raymond James recognizes the significance of supporting programs like Juneteenth. Reese emphasizes, "Programs like Juneteenth are important in multiple ways to Raymond James." These programs not only align with the firm's Mosaic Inclusion Network and Black Financial Advisors Network but also reinforce the importance of giving back to local communities. By participating in initiatives that celebrate African-American history and culture, Raymond James fosters a more inclusive environment and reinforces their commitment to community engagement.
