Mat-Su College and UAA Summer Camps Art Academy Mat-Su College Campers will use paper-clay to design, build, and use the Raku process to fire a dragon sculpture; learn the creative use of digital photo apps to create artistic compositions for presentation, review and discussion; use a printer’s press to create an intaglio plexi plate matrix and print an artist’s proof; using found objects, students will devise and construct a moving sound sculpture and make recordings of compositions they create. Camp Fire Summer Adventure Program Camp Fire’s licensed, full-day Summer Adventure Program is for youth grades K through 6 and focuses on promoting physical fitness, healthy life choices, fun indoor and outdoor experiences such as arts & crafts, cooking, science and sports, and community involvement. Summer Adventure Programs present the best of summer experiences for elementary age youth. Summer Adventure programs are conveniently located in elementary schools in Anchorage and Eagle River. Join us for one day, one week, or the whole summer! Hours run Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (6:30 in Eagle River), between May 31 – August 5th. $40 per day, per child, though some scholarships may be available. Camp K on Kenai Lake Camp Fire’s resident camp is nestled among the spruce forests along Kenai Lake in Cooper Landing. Camp K provides the perfect environment for youth ages 6 to 17 to explore the natural world around them, engage in a variety of challenging activities and form friendships that can last a lifetime. Days are full of challenging activities, like canoeing, target sports and hiking. Program continues in the evening with dynamic all camp games and community
building around the campfire, so youth and teens can thrive, experiencing a sense of belonging, contribution, and empowerment. Sessions range from 4 to 9 days, and are priced accordingly ranging from $245 to $535. Camp K is an overnight camp, and round-trip transportation is provided from Anchorage. Camp Si-La-Meo Camp Fire’s Camp Si-La-Meo for ages 5 to 15 offers fun activities and outdoor living skills in Alaska’s natural environment-based on the APU campus. Campers are organized into small groups by age, and activities are designed to fit each group’s physical, mental, and social ability levels. Youth are challenged to try new activities and practice the values of caring, string, and thriving. Each group has swimming lessons, and activities include archery, boating, nature walks, arts and crafts, games, rock climbing, and lots more. This is an outdoor program offering fun, physical activity in the beauty of Alaska.
