John Russell’s 1,008 km sponsored walk for Widehorizons Outdoor Education Trust I am attempting a solo, unaided walk of the 1,008km South West Coast Path, the longest National Trail in the UK. I plan to walk this in less than thirty days during the month of May. That’s over 25 miles a day, every day. I will be starting at Minehead, in Somerset, and finishing at Poole Harbour, in Dorset. The total height I will climb during this walk will be a massive 114,931 feet - that’s four times the height of Everest!
Widehorizons, of which I am Chair, is a charity that transforms the lives of young people through inspirational outdoor learning. The money raised from my walk will go to Widehorizons’ ‘Your Adventure’ project at three South London primary schools: Brent Knoll, Downderry and Watergate. Widehorizons provides life-changing educational adventures for over 32,000 children each year, through their six outdoor education centres across England and Wales.
