Finding Joy
FINDING JOY IN SINGLE PARENTING:
BY: Ann Jane Mumbi

Janet was eighteen years old when she got married. Shortly after; she was expecting her first child. Eight months after, the earth-shattering news: her baby, the child she had prayed for and carried, was dead. Some years later, by God’s grace, she was expecting again, followed twenty months later by another child her husband never wanted because of financial constraints, and that was, so to say, the beginning of the end.
But Janet held on, determined to accept this child as the gift it was. Their marriage was definitely on the rocks; Janet tried to do everything she could, to hold her marriage together but it got broken beyond repair. Her husband left. Within the same year, divorce followed. He remarried and three years later, he disappeared from their lives completely.
This is one of the many stories that lead to single parenthood.
Abandoned, you are left to raise, support and guide the children all by yourself. Things progressively get worse. You are subjected to bitter heartache, emotional and social scars of abandonment, suicidal inclinations, society bullying sets in, depression, low self-esteem, name it.
All in all, single parents need to keep their heads above water.
Choose to move on!
Fuel a life of joy in parenting.by resolving to look at life from a different perspective. Your circumstances do not make you. Change your attitude towards your circumstances and circumstances will change right before you. Despite parenting alone, realize that being a single parent is not the totality of who you are. You are more than what happened to you.
Never stop fighting for your children, never stop praying, and never stop loving them.
Through every obstacle and hurdle life put in your path, doggedly hold on to faith and firmly trust in the promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that assures us: No temptation has overtaken you except such as it is common to man; But God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Give every ounce of strength to support the children inwardly and outwardly, always encouraging them, not to be the best but to be their best. Fight daily to instill in your children the Word of God together with the right values and morals. This is ministry!
Believe me, they will always remember the support you so valiantly strove to give them and the endless self-sacrifice you endured for them. They will appreciate it one day and even if they do not, Hebrews 6:10 promises that God is not unjust to forget your work and labour of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints and do minister.
Never give up on them, Never stop hoping.

WHAT ENTREPRENEURS NEED TO BE AND TO DO TO LEAD IN THEIR BUSINESSES?
It doesn’t make sense to hire smart people and then tell them what to do; We hire smart people so they can tell us what to do.
~Steve Jobs

Entrepreneurs need to have passion for what they do, have strong leadership perspective, be a good steward of both people and resources. One only rises to greater leadership positions based on how much they are transformed while managing their positions of responsibility.
One needs to believe in themselves, develop thick skin, yet remain sober to manage the different seasons in the cycle of business, run with a clear vision of their business empire, building a professional corporate, regardless of the size of one’s entity, driven by a formal business plan, that should be reviewed often to help remain on course.
Entrepreneurs should be firm and have the courage to make difficult decisions during crisis like the current covid19 so as to remain afloat . One must endeavor to operate professionally and ethically, have an eye to manage costs to remain relevant and effective, be able to hire smart people either as direct employees or on consultancy

basis, for purpose of delegation, so as to maintain their position of steering the company to greater heights all round, not one running with day to day activities.
Towards their employees and partners, entrepreneurs must be empathetic and human, being ready to go down to their level all round, regularly and at the same time, maintaining respect and trust which is earned and not forced.
Entrepreneurs should be dreamers, always aware of market trends through worldwide interactions from various sources including social media, in this era of technology and find existing successful companies to benchmark with and at the same time be very agile to strategize and reposition themselves based on market changes. Collaborations and partnerships with others in the same or complimentary expertise help entrepreneurs remain afloat and raise more capital.

THE ART OF PERSONAL LEADERSHIP
Leadership is an art and the foundation of all leadership is personal leadership! This is one of the most important skills that anyone with a growth mindset needs to espouse and deliberately hone!
In his book the 21 irrefutable laws of leadership, John C. Maxwell, a global leadership guru says that everything rises and falls on leadership! If you see a very successful or prosperous business entity, or organization, or nation or even a person, look at the leadership! And the vice versa is also true! Nations do not fail, organ- izations do not fail, people fail, their leader- ship skills fail; it is the leadership that fails the institution!
BY: Sarah Munyi
In his first law which is called The Law of the Lid, John C. Maxwell states that leadership ability is the lid that determines a person’s level of effectiveness. The lower an individual’s ability to lead, the lower the lid on his
potential. This means that your goals, dreams, visions, talents, gifts, business, career, ministry and all your endeavors, can only rise as high as your ability to lead yourself! We are halfway through the year and how well you have fared in accomplishing goals
that you had set to achieve in the year has everything to do with your ability to lead yourself. You cannot rise above your leadership!
Personal leaderto lead your most important follower; yourself! This makes each one of us a leader! The greatest leadership challenge that you will ever have is not leading other people, but leading yourself! When you successfully lead yourself and people start to see some direction and focus in your life, then you earn the right to lead others!
The ability to honor your words, to do what you say you will do, to back them up with actions is the
first step in leading yourself more ship is the ability
In Matthew 26:41

effectively. The ability to do the right thing, at the right time, at the right place. How good are you a follower to your own instruction? You always give the world the best example of how to treat you.
When you honor your word, the world honors it too and when you do not, the world (those around you) will do the same thing! In each person there is a leader who knows what is supposed to be done, and a follower who always has to be pushed to do what is supposed to be done! In Matthew 26:41 Jesus Christ said that the spirit is willing,
but the flesh is weak. That is a typical example of the contention between the leader and the follower in you. It is until the follower submits to the leadership of the leader that there can be progress in your life.
Every leadership must be led by vision. It is the direction of leadership. Vision is your life compass and it directs your purpose, your goals, talents, gifts and endeavors. Have a personal vision that directs your daily endeavors. Accountability is key in making sure that you remain on track and don’t fall behind on your personal goals and vision. It will be prudent for you to have an accountability partner, mentor, coach, as an accountability system to cheer you and make sure your goals remain your priority! You are born to lead! Lead yourself, conquer the world!
