UPCYCLED LIGHT
brief Think about the waste items that you are throwing away and challenge the value and potential of waste – both as a raw material and a design tool. No longer can you consider rubbish as worthless, but a rich resource of unexplored opportunity.
made out of recyclable materials PET bottles X 20
built with no glue inspired by clouds
Measurements are in millimetres
The measurements can vary depending on how the bottles are positioned
The uneven shape creates the cloud-like effect

problem An increasing number of people live in a 4 Generation home due to financial necessity. This means that people, young or old, all will need to share everyday equipment, such as that in the kitchen.
brief Design an inclusive kitchen aid product that will be used in a multigeneration kitchen. In particular, it should accommodate to the needs of those who are visually impaired and/or those who are suffering from arthritis.
materials The handle would most probably have a rigid metal core which would add strength to it. The outside as well as the clipping mechanism would be covered with a heat resistant silicone covering which would limit the heat transfer from the hot pot/ cup to the user’s hand.
The handle can be used on a pot, frying pan or a mug
possible uses
It would come in a variety of sizes, so that it can be used on a number of different products
The user would be able to rotate it so that they can use it on objects such as frying pans
Locking mechanism to prevent the handle from falling off
Brightly coloured to be easily seen by those with visual impairment
Textured grip to improve the comfort of holding
development
MARBLE RUN
brief Design a 4 piece marble run and make it out of at least 3 different materials .
varied heights

STACK
brief To design and manufacture a contemporary storage solution that could provide protection and preservation of items that can be found within a contemporary home, while still presenting them.
easily stackable The 3D printed joints allow the user to easily stack each of the compartments on top of each other.
4 compartments in 4 sizes Depending on the user’s needs, they are able to stack the compartments on top of each other or place a shelf to cover up the joints.
materials plywood acrylic ABS aluminium tubes
Movable frame so that the storage unit can be either leaning against a wall or stand on its own
Changeable shelves to suit the product to the user’s needs
Stackable so that the user can change its size to fit in with the needs of the home

GEOM
brief To design and manufacture a contemporary dining table that would allow a minimum of 4 people to sit around it. The product should encourage people to socialise and eat with each other as people with busy lifestyles often tend to spend lots of time alone without their family or friends. It should fit in with the design of a contemporary home.

HAIRBRUSH HANDLE
problem Through using this hair brush on an every day basis, it was clear to see that the main problem of this product is the lack of the handle and the overall shape of the hair brush.
brief To improve the Tangle Teezer hair brush, a handle needs to be created. The handle needs to be ergonomically designed so that it fits in perfectly with the hand of the user.
rotatable head The handle can be used by left and right handed people.
ergonomically designed grip rounded end of the handle This adds an extra feature to the handle as the user can use it as tool to create a parting between the hair.
The handle is split into two parts; the top is connected to the hairbrush and the bottom can be twisted around
Would come in multiple colours
To further improve the pointy end could have some kind of silicone covering to make it less sharp
Foam board, blue foam, plasticine, wire and polymorph
Creating a range of 1:1 models helped during the making process as I knew what things needed to be improved
Using polymorph enabled me to create a very precise grip shape
