1

Evidence: Your Project Development Diary should reflect what you have accomplished in each of your work sessions, as well as your own thoughts and comments regarding your progress. Entries do not have to be long but must be reflective. You will need to conduct a Development Project Diary for most of your projects. The diary should reflect proposed schedules, logistics and evidence of individual (and group related) project progress. See Development Project Diary help sheet for further details. Assessment: To achieve a Pass grade your Project Development Diary must show evidence of the application of preproduction planning. To achieve a Merit grade your Project Development Diary must show evidence of the competent application of preproduction planning. To achieve a Distinction grade your Project Development Diary must show evidence of the near professional application of preproduction planning.

Evidence: Your Workbooks should consist of a series of questions and activities that you are required to fully complete to show understanding of Stop Motion animation.

Assessment: To achieve a Pass grade Workbooks show evidence of appropriate use of subject terminology. To achieve a Merit grade Workbooks show evidence of appropriate use of subject terminology using detailed illustrative examples.

Task Scenario: Your next task is to write a 1,000 word Stop Motion Animator Case Study Essay about a personally selected animator (specializing in stop motion animation / Go Motion). Your case study should give you an insight into the animators’ career, body of work and personal visual style. Your essay should also reflect your own thoughts and feelings on the work of the specific animator. If you are working in a group then your chosen animator must be different to those of other members in your group.

In order to complete you production work to a professional standard, you will need to have developed your knowledge of stop motion animation techniques and the history and pioneers of this animation technique. You will need to gather information that will help you develop your own ideas for your short stop motion introduction. Evidence: Your Research Log should consist of both Primary and Secondary research. Primary research should be analysed using both qualitative and quantative methods. You could use a variety of different sources from newspapers to websites, but references should reflect the history of stopmotion animators. See Research log help sheet for further details. 10

Evidence: Your written evaluation should reflect the technical competency that you (and your group) feel you have applied to your project. It should also reflect your animations effectiveness in relation to this original brief. You also need to integrate the comments and feedback you received from the audience after the screening of your short stop motion animation sequence as presented in your previous audience response PowerPoint. See Evaluation / Commentary Help sheet for further details. Assessment: To achieve a Pass grade your Evaluation / Commentary should be produced within appropriate conventions. To achieve a Merit grade your Evaluation / Commentary should be produced showing some imagination.
