Assignment Scenario You are working for a small but ambitious production company that has been given funds to make a low budget Film Noir sequence / short film that you will premiere at a local film festival to showcase your film making talents. At least one full scene within your short Film Noir film / sequence should utilise a multi camera set-up. You can combine different genres with the Film Noir one in order to create a hybrid, for example Neo Noir (modern Noir like ‘Sin City’), or Tech Noir (Futuristic Film Noir like Blade Runner); However, your short sequence / film should clearly reflect aspects of the Film Noir genre. Be mindful of the following conventions of the Film Noir genre; shadows, hats, trench coats, suits, smoke, fog, a cityscape, etc. Documentation needed for this assignment includes: * Project Development Diary (for the duration of the project) *Completed Film Noir Workbook * Multi Camera Essay (500 words) *Programme Proposal *Pre Production Materials *Finished Film Noir Film / Sequence * Written Evaluation or Production Commentary Voice-over

Task Scenario: As a media producer you will need to record your progress your productivity at the end of each of your sessions, in the form of a Project Development Diary. This will showcase your thoughts and progress throughout this assignment.

Evidence: Your Project Development Diary should reflect what you have accomplished in each of your work sessions, as well as your own thoughts and comments regarding your progress. Entries do not have to be long but must be reflective. You will need to conduct a Development Project Diary for most of your projects. The diary should reflect proposed schedules, logistics and evidence of individual (and group related) project progress. See Development Project Diary help sheet for further details. Assessment: To achieve a Pass grade your Project Development Diary must show evidence of the application of pre-production planning. Task Scenario: You are to complete the designated Film Noir workbook to improve your understanding of both multi techniques and an appreciation of the Film Noir genre. It is through this understanding that you should develop an application of this genre to this filming technique. To achieve a Merit grade your Film Noir Short Film / Sequence should be produced showing some imagination. To achieve a Distinction grade your Film Noir Short Film / Sequence should be produced showing creativity and flair. Task Scenario: When you have completed your production, now is the time to be reflective of the technical and aesthetic decisions you have made in the production of your film noir. You can decide to either write a 500 word written evaluation or a reflective technical commentary recorded as an audio voice over companion piece to your film.
