The Center for Entrepreneurial Studies
“Wilbraham & Monson Academy’s mission is to develop global citizens and leaders.
The mission of the academy is partially driven by the Center for Entrepreneurial & Global Studies (CEGS). CEGS is an inclusive social sciences program providing students a comprehensive introduction to their role as global citizens and leaders in an increasingly global economy. CEGS requires a two-year sequence of classes for Grades 9 and 10, which provide an interdisciplinary study of the global, modern world. In addition to Advanced Placements classes in Economics, History, and Human Geography, students can begin choosing from a series of electives in their sophomore year. Students may focus on financial markets, entrepreneurship and related social sciences. These electives reinforce the impact of how economics and the broad liberal arts curriculum connect. Traditional classes are augmented by opportunities to engage in real businesses, meet practitioners in the fields of global affairs and study abroad.
Mark R. Shenkman Trading Center
The Mark R. Shenkman Trading Center (STC) offers students the opportunity to use a state-of-the-art facility to gain active research and trading experience with stocks and bonds in order to propel understanding of the global financial environment. The STC allows the tangible use of a lab environment to be brought into the social sciences. This allows students to have an experiential learning opportunity while gaining a deeper understanding of how world events and financial markets are interconnected. Bloomberg terminals allow students to access proprietary and public information and media, to enhance, supplement or develop salient research focused on world business news both current and archived.
