Silvia Vassileva pursued her love of art at the Academy of Fine Art in Bulgaria, where she earned both her bachelors and masters degrees. She spent six years painting and exhibiting her work in Japan before moving to the U.S. Silvia describes her style as very free and bold. Shirley Novak is wild about poppies. She loves to paint them, to grow them and to share them with her fellow gardeners. Her childhood passions were growing, drawing and painting flowers, which she continues to do at her Colorado studio. Shirley paints in oils using a wet-on-wet technique. She paints plein air whenever possible, either in her garden or on location when she travels.

Debra Van Swearingen has had a passion for photography since the age of 12. She supported her hobby by working in government contracts, while taking classes at the Oklahoma School of Photography. It was in 1995, after a year of cancer remediation, that Debra decided to make her passion and her profession one and the same. Her studio is in the artistically vibrant Paseo District of Oklahoma City.

Omar Escalante’s art style is influenced by pop art and Art Deco style. “I like to tell stories through my illustrations,” he says “Especially when I travel, I like to look for the feeling of places and show it through my work.” When he began to create artwork based on vintage travel posters, the theme became his passion. In 2017 he won a travel poster contest promoting travel to Finland, where he lives with family. Omar grew up in Guatemala and has lived in Finland since 2007. His multicultural family (where five different languages might be spoken on any given day) also inspires and influences him in making his art.
