2.0 Introduction Paradigm Architects has given me the great opportunity to involve in their several projects in terms of schematic design, permit application, and contract documentation. The projects that I involved within these two months of training are EV3, Standard Guard House Design, New Pare Kluang Terrace, Razak & Azahar House, Unik Sejati, Sales Gallery Extension, Estuari Garden, and G3C. 3.0 EV3 EV3 is a terrace development project that located in Shah Alam, Selangor. It is one of the main projects that I involved within these two months. Firstly, the major task that I was given is helping to amend the Building Plan submission drawings manually. Through this task, I learnt to check the drawings according to authorities’ requirements, and aware of different local authorities during permit application.

The second task that I was assigned on this project is updating the tender drawings. I was given the chance to assist my colleague to revise the updated items in the tender drawings as well as plotting out the drawings.

Moreover, I was assigned to complete the GFA demarcation of this project. By completing this task, I learnt to highlight different areas in autocad file and calculate all the separated areas in order to get the Gloss Floor Area (GFA), Net Floor Area (NFA), and Cost Plan Area (CPA).

4.0 Standard Guard House Design Ar. Teoh has given me a chance to design and propose two options of standard guardhouse according to his client requirement. I was assigned to complete a set of drawings with appropriate specifications and dimension for the purpose of calculating the cost by the quantity surveyor. Furthermore, I do have to build the 3D model of the proposed guardhouse on Sketch Up, and it was a great chance to enhance my skills on Sketch Up.

5.0 New Park Kluang Terrace New Park Kluang Terrace is still in a proposal stage project. In this project, I was assigned to assist my colleagues in designing and revising the layout plan of two types of single-‐storey terrace house. After that, I have to calculate the total built up area and convert the drawings into presentation drawings via Photoshop. Through this, I sharpened my layout planning and photoshop skills.

6.0 Razak & Azahar Bungalow The forth project that I was assigned to complete is a renovation project. Mr. Razak and Mr. Azahar wanted to extend and renovate their bungalows respectively. So, I was given the chance to update the full set drawings in Autocad according to their requirement. I was mainly focusing on Mr. Azahar’s bungalow while another colleague of mine focusing on Mr. Razak’s bungalow. Moreover, I aslo helped to update the 3D modeling of Mr. Razak’s bungalow. I managed to learn some authorities’ regulation and restriction for renovation purpose.

In this project, I was give 5 types of bungalow building drawings, and my task is to convert them into SPA marketing drawing, which is the simplest drawings without any specification and dimension for client. 8.0 Sales Gallery Extension Sales gallery extension is a task assigned by Ar. Teoh to propose three options of layout design. 9.0 Estuari Garden Estuari Garden is a proposed 350 units of terrace house in Johor Bahru, Johor. Ar. Teoh assigned me to prepare the material presentation slide for him. It is a 118 slides materials presentation, which includes of materials for wall finishes, roof, ceiling, floor finishes, paints, doors, windows, railings, ironmongeries, and sanitary wares. From this task, I was lucky to learn the knowledge about the several building materials from different suppliers. 10.0 G3C G3C is a proposed 72 units of terrace house in Shah Alam, Selangor and I was assigned to attend a client-‐consultants meeting with my colleague before the end of my internship. During the client-‐consultants meeting, all the consultants and client discussed about the issue of permit application and amendment of the building design. After the meeting, I was assigned to produce the meeting minutes, which was a great opportunity for me to learn something new. 11.0 Kota Emerald Rawang I was given the chance to go for a site visit in Rawang on this task. My task was to assist my colleague to inspect the workmanship of the completed buildings. My colleague was very helpful and he taught me some tips that I need to pay attention while doing the inspection. There are some deflection and incomplete work in the building. So we marked down all the things that need to be refined and passed it to the main contractor. Through this site visit, I can see how architect deal with project manager and contractor on site. 12.0 Conclusion First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ar. Teoh for supervising me throughout these 8 weeks of internship. I would also want to thank all my colleagues for willing to help and share me with their knowledge and experience so that I can have the great experience on the real and typical architect’s practice. And also, my tutor, Ms. Chang who has paid me a visit during this period. Throughout this internship training, I am glad that I have the chance to involve building submission drawings, tender drawings, GFA demarcation, renovation drawings, SPA drawings, schematic design, material presentation slides, site visit and client-‐consultant minutes. It has been a very fruitful internship for me and I really appreciate it.
