A Methodist minister, a Catholic priest, and a Jewish rabbi were talking. The Methodist bragged, “One of my ancestors wrote over a hundred hymns.” Not to be outdone, the priest responded, “One of my ancestors, translated the Bible into English.” “That’s nothing,” said the rabbi, “One of my ancestors wrote the Ten Commandments.”

Santa arrives at the Wildwood Golf Club
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Please help the Lunch With Lynch Foundation take the “Grinch out of Christmas.” On Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24th we will deliver our donated gifts to the homes of children in our community who may need a little assistance this Holiday Season. We are targeting families with elementary age school children from the “Entire Island.” Your support in this effort will be greatly appreciated.
Every child deserves to look forward to waking up on Christmas Day with a present from Santa! Purchasing A Gift for a child between the ages of 3 to 11 You cannot imagine how much joy a simple $10 to $20 gift can bring. And if you really want to make a child’s holiday – try adding a warm hat and mittens. It’s a gift that will have a long lasting effect throughout our cold winters.
Help Put Meal on the Table We’re looking for $25.00 Gift Cards to Acme, Super Fresh, Shoprite and Walmart. Many of our working poor families have limited cooking facilities. Your gift can be the difference in providing a HOT MEAL to a local family that best suits their needs on Christmas Day.
Cash Donations We will do the shopping for you. Checks can be written to the Lunch With Lynch Foundation and mailed to P.O. Box 1322 * Wildwood, NJ 08260
Your Donation can be dropped off at the following locations: North Wildwood Shirt Shop, Winterwood Christmas Shoppe in Rio Grande or the Cape May Mall, Wildwoods Convention Center, Crest Tavern or we will pick them up by calling John Lynch at 609-849-8887

NEW YEARS 2011 Two brooms were hanging in the closet and after a while they got to know each other so well, they decided to get married. One broom was, of course, the bride broom, the other the groom broom. The bride broom looked very beautiful in her white dress. The groom broom was handsome and suave in his tuxedo. The wedding was lovely. After the wedding dinner, the bride-broom leaned over and said to the groom broom, “I think I am going to have a little broom!” “Impossible!” said the groom broom. “We haven’t even swept together.”

Football and a Flip Flopz Feast A long Thanksgiving weekend left us with an empty refrigerator, but instead of food shopping, we headed out to dinner. Flip Flopz in Anglesea was our first choice, partly for the huge menu that can satisfy even the pickiest eater and partly for the huge televisions that allowed us to catch the Eagles game and the beginning of the Amazing Race on CBS. We brought the kids along this time . . . after all, there was nothing to eat at home. The husband and I started out with a cocktail. I ordered a Simi Sauvignon Blanc from a menu of 16 wines available by the glass, and he had an ice cold Yuengling draft. We also ordered Old Bay wings ($8.99) from the appetizer Chicken Fingers and Fries menu for the table. The kids got sodas and we toasted to a great weekend and a night out together before taking a look at the rest of the menu. Surprisingly our pickiest eater was the easiest to satisfy. She ordered chicken fingers and steak fries off the appetizer menu for $7.99. The rest of us were overwhelmed with choices, and our waitress Angie was very helpful. The 10 for $10 specials are great for keeping within the family budget, and all entrees come with a soup of the day or salad, plus dessert. My steak-loving daughter chose Prime Rib, and my son settled on a Black and Bleu Burger ($9.99) from the sandwich menu. We ordered dinner just before the wings arrived. They were delicious--golden brown, crisp on the outside and dusted with spicy Sesame ahi tuna with sweet Old Bay seasoning and served with Mandarine oranges and gorgonzola homemade bleu cheese dressing and celery. I know this because I managed to eat one before they disappeared in a feeding frenzy. Everyone loved them. Next came two piping hot cups of corn chowder, which everyone at the table tasted and wished they had ordered for themselves. Too bad! I enjoyed every bite of the tender potatoes and shredded chicken in the creamy broth, and I only shared a little. Luckily, dinner came out soon. And everyone was pleased. Our chicken finger connoisseur deemed her meal worthy, even delicious, as she devoured each one as well as the crispy steak fries. The $10 Prime Rib dinner was also a success, tender and juicy served with a side of sautéed spinach and fries. My son loved his burger, but he still let me have a bite. It was huge, loaded with sautéed fresh mushrooms and sharp bleu cheese and it was served with a heaping helping of steak fires. 24 The|husband WildwoodMag.com and I had gone into this meal, still struggling to find an ap-
petite after all the Thanksgiving overindulgence, but Flip Flopz’s fresh salads did the trick. He had an arugula salad ($7.99) with mandarin oranges, gorgonzola cheese, candied walnuts and red onion in a Owner Joe Mahoney and our waitress Angie light citrus vinaigrette. It was light, but satisfying and complex in flavor with a balance of sweet, sour, peppery and salty. I ordered the ahi tuna salad ($11.99), which our waitress Angie recommended, but warned that it was not a traditional salad. Instead, it is a generous portion of ahi tuna, encrusted with white and black sesame seeds and seared. It’s served with a small bed of wakimi seaweed with sides of pickled ginger, wasabi and a teriyaki soy glaze. It was light, tender, fresh and delicious--a perfect, postThanksgiving feast. Due to an overindulgence of pumpkin pie this weekend, dessert was the last thing on my mind, but my children had other plans. They had scoped out the choices early in the evening, and as a reward for good report cards, we conceded and ordered a sampler to make deciding easier. We sampled chocoBlack and Bleu Burger, a house specialty late and vanilla ice cream, key lime pie, bread pudding, death-by-chocolate cake and a creme brulée cheese cake. They were all much better than pumpkin pie. I preferred the cheesecake which was drizzled with a caramel sauce. The husband liked the bread pudding with dense, dark cinnamon and the kids devoured the ice cream and chocolate cake. The meal we had at Flip Flopz was memorable and fun. Everything was fresh and tasty and the atmosphere was friendly and festive with newly hung Christmas decorations all around. Afterwards, we sat at the table together, stuffed, happy, and watching football on dozens of televisions overhead. We had a strange sense of deja vu. It was just like Thanksgiving, only better. At St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Toronto , they have weekly husband’s marriage seminars. At the session last week, the priest asked Giuseppe, who said he was approaching his 50th wedding anniversary, to take a few minutes and share some insight into how he had managed to stay married to the same woman all these years. Giuseppe replied to the assembled husbands, ‘Wella, I’va tried to treat her nicea, spenda da money on her, but besta of all is, I tooka her to Italy for the 25th anniversary!” The priest responded, “Giuseppe, you are an amazing inspiration to all the husbands here! ThatsMyWedding.com Bring Beach Weddings To Reality! Getting married on the beach is a dream come true for many brides and grooms. But bringing that beach wedding dream to reality takes some planning. Beach Wedding Guests Watching beach weddings with the ocean as your backdrop is absolutely beautiful. But it may pose extra challenges for some of your guests. Wheelchair accessibility is often limited on many beaches, and may be something you want to look into as you plan your beach wedding. You may also have some guests who will require assistance walking in the sand. Make sure your groomsmen are up to the challenge of getting everyone sat comfortably. Make sure there are washroom facilities close to the wedding site. Ensure that they will be unlocked, clean, and stocked during your beach wedding. If the washroom amenities leave a little to be desired, you may want to bring extra supplies, and even add some fresh flowers to the bathroom. Consider how you will feel about uninvited sunbathers crashing your beach wedding. If you get married on a public beach then your ceremony will be open to the public. If the idea of strangers watching your ceremony bothers you then you might consider renting a private beach for the ceremony. Bring Beach Weddings - Weather Considerations Weather is definitely a consideration when planning a beach wedding, but not something that you can control. But you can make some adjustments to better your odds of having a picture perfect beach setting. Once you have picked the beach of your choice, then select a wedding date that is during their typically dry season, and avoid the rainy season. Definitely steer clear of hurricane season. And just in case Mother Nature isn’t cooperating the day of your beach wedding, have a back-up location or a tent ready in case the weather is just too nasty to say your I do’s beachside. Ocean tides need to be considered when picking a time for your beach wedding. Tides can creep up on you quickly, and you don’t want ocean water soaking your guest’s feet before they’ve announced, “You may now kiss the bride.” Pick your wedding ceremony location in a section of the beach that is not affected by the tides. Bugs are also a consideration when picking a date and a time. Mosquitoes and other flying pests come out in force at certain times of the day, and during certain seasons, depending on your beach location. Check out your specific beach location and visit it during the time you plan to have your beach wedding. You may want to try and guess when sunset will hit, or decide if a morning wedding ceremony is more your style. Some beaches have annoying glares at certain times of the day, and others have unpleasant odors if the tide has just gone out. Keeping to the Beach Theme Make sure that the beach style is how you want to go for your wedding ceremony. Beach wedding ceremonies are typically more casual than traditional church weddings. A bride who weds on the beach usually forgoes the white gown and long train for a simple white sundress, and the groom often wears khaki’s and a light colored shirt. Wedding guests at a beach wedding also dress more casual, with Hawaiian shirts and sundresses. Wedding music for your beach wedding differs from the traditional organ music. You might go with a soloist, a ukulele, or some steel drums. The food served at your reception can also reflect your beach wedding. Many beach wedding receptions serve seafood and fresh fruit. You may also want to come up with creative wedding favors that go with your beach theme, like fun beach towels with your name and date on them, or margarita glasses. Although there is a certain amount of risk in planning a beach wedding ceremony, if you make some arrangements ahead of time and are willing to take your chances, you could have a fantasy beach wedding. A man had six children and was very proud of his achievement. He was so proud of himself that he started calling his wife, ‘Mother of Six’, in spite of her objections. One night they went to a party. He decided that it was time to go home, and wanted to find out if his wife is ready to leave as well. He shouted at the top of his voice,”Shall we go home, Mother of Six?” His wife, irritated by her husband’s lack of discretion shouted back, “Anytime you’re ready, Father of Four!”

The Girl Around Town By Natalie Cooper
My mom called me the other night to talk, and she asked me if I’ve been to any Christmas concerts lately. Stating the obvious and telling her no, she informed me that my whole entire family was going to one back home tonight—without me. I will admit I was kind of upset. Having to stay at school for an extra week before break on account of one final that I had on the last possible day to have them, I was annoyed that I couldn’t be home already, knowing I was missing out on Christmas activities with the family. Regardless, I asked where the concert was, and when my mom told me, I figured it must be something new. Of course the only Christmas concerts I remember were St. Ann’s Original School’s, my elementary school’s, annual Christmas pageants. Every year St. Ann’s would put on this Christmas show down at the church on Magnolia and Atlantic. Each grade, kindergarten through eighth, sang two traditional Christmas songs. It was a big night. We’d spend hours for the past few weeks in class learning the songs and singing them as a class, then walking down to the church to practice singing them on the altar and practicing walking up to the altar in order so we got it just perfect. Everyone looked forward to the Christmas pageant, no matter what grade you were in. It was a night to dress up, it was a night to spend outside of school with your fellow classmates, and it was a time to spread some Christmas cheer. Although I enjoyed them every year, one year’s Christmas concert stands out in particular. I was in eighth grade. Now anyone who ever went to St. Ann’s knows that the eighth grade sings two songs—“The Twelve Days of Christmas” and “Children, Go Where I send Thee.” This does not change. Anyone who ever went to St. Ann’s also knows this. But, considering that my class was the first huge class the school had ever had, having to split us up into two separate classes with two separate teachers, we broke this tradition, naturally. Really, our class didn’t mind singing the traditional songs, our only request was that all 60-something of us got to stand on the altar and sing them together. Since the staff finally agreed to that, I guess they figured we might as well choose our own Christmas songs to sing as well, since we were already going against tradition. And we chose to go along with it. The night of the concert, we were the last to take the altar. All of us had Christmas hats on, another new tradition, carrying newspapers. One of us was carrying a radio. Another one dressed up as a newspaper boy. Our family and friends in the audience looked baffled. It was not what they were expecting. We took the altar in silence and waited until all eyes were on us. Then someone turned on the radio to a pretty funky beat. All of us began clapping our hands, as two more paperboys made their way up the center isle from the back of the church. The audience was shocked. I don’t recall the name of the song, but I remember the opening lines:

A little boy asked his father, “Daddy, how much does it cost to get married?” And the father replied, “I don’t know, son, I’m still paying for it.”
Extra, extra, read all about it. Extra, extra we’re gonna shout it. Glory, glory, oh what a story. We’ve got news for you. And shout it we did. We filled that church with the sound of our voices, so loudly that everyone in there started joining along. It was probably the first concert I remember where people in the audience sang. And that’s why I remember it. And that’s why it was special.
