Useless Information PACERS VS. 76ERS

The Indiana Pacers played the 76ers this past Monday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. As most of you know, my son Frank is the head coach for the Pacers. Always nice to see him come east as it is hard for us to visit Indianapolis and vice versa. He always manages to spend some time with us even though his schedule is very hectic. We (Peg, Frank and myself ) had lunch at the Public Grille next to the Four Seasons hotel where he was staying . . . he always looks forward to coming to Philly for the Cheesesteaks and Tasty Cakes . . . well guess what, no cheesesteaks on the menu. Of course we registered our complaints and indignation about how a restaurant in Philadelphia wouldn’t have steaks on the menu is beyond belief!! We survived on burgers. The game was great even though the Pacers lost, but the Pacers didn’t have their best player (Danny Granger) and best defensive player (George Hill). We found out at lunch that both were out. Always cool to get inside info before the game. Frank had to get about 20 tickets just for family and they put everyone in the same section. After the game ended we were showered by confetti shot from a canon like device. Talk about rubbing it in . . . but it was fun, especially for our grandchildren Cooper, Brendan and Chase (Justin and Allison Vogel), Ella and Max Souder (Amy and Steve), Kyra Roth (DJ and Liz Roth). Great time was had by all. It’s also nice that so many friends of Frank attended the game from Wildwood and when Frank was introduced before the game “From Wildwood, NJ, Pacers Head Coach Frank Vogel” it was VERY cool. And when the game was over Frank was very gracious, spending time with everyone who came up, signing autographs, taking pictures, etc. SO . . . when they’re not playing the Sixers, I expect everyone to root for the Pacers and their native son Frank Vogel.

RAMBLINGS OF A RETIRED MAN I was thinking about how a status symbol of today is those cell phones that everyone has clipped onto their belt or purse. I can’t afford one. So, I’m wearing my garage door opener. You know, I spent a fortune on deodorant before I realized that people didn’t like me anyway. I was thinking that women should put pictures of missing husbands on beer cans. I thought about making a fitness movie for folks my age, and call it “Pumping Rust.” I have gotten that dreaded furniture disease. That’s when your chest is falling into your drawers. Employment application blanks always ask “Who is to be contacted in case of emergency.” I think you should write, “A Good Doctor!” I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older. Then, it dawned on me, they were cramming for their finals. As for me, I’m just hoping God grades on the curve. DOCTORS OPINIONS OF THE FINANCIAL BAILOUT... - The Allergists voted to scratch it. - The Dermotologists advised not to make any rash moves. - The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it. - The Neurologists thought the administration had a lot of nerve. - The Opthalmologists considered the idea short sighted. - The Pathologists yelled, ‘Over my dead body!’ - The Pediatricians said, “Oh grow up!” - The Radiologists could see right through it. - Urologists felt the scheme wouldn’t hold water. -The Cardiologists didn’t have the heart to say no.
