TWO FUNDRAISERS FOR THE FREE MEAL CENTER There will be a benefit fundraiser for The Free Meal Center 3-7pm on Sunday, March 4 at Flip Flopz, 300 Olde New Jersey Avenue in North Wildwood. The cost is just $20, which includes a buffet. A cash bar is available. There will be continuous entertainment, featuring four bands of talented musicians on the verge of making it big, comedians and a magician. A Chinese auction and 50-50 raffles will also be held. A Beef & Beer fundraiser for The Free Meal Center will be held 4-8pm Thursday, March 22 at the Shamrock Café, 3700 Pacific Avenue in Wildwood. The menu includes hot beef sandwiches, baked ziti, macaroni salad, potato salad, soda and draught beer. The cost is just $20. Come and enjoy these two afternoons of mellow music and fun while helping TFMC reach its goal of raising $50,000 by March 31. To date, $20,000 has been raised. Useless Information VINNIE AND BETH CHIARELLA HIT A GRAND SLAM The food was terrific. Beth No surprise there. Vince Chiarella Chiarella can flat out cook Italian food. Everything you order comes out hot and delicious and you can tell it’s a Vince Chiarella creation. What was surprising was the atmosphere of the place. For such a large room, it had the intimacy of small group settings. Feng shui is the art of organizing space to maximize energy, and Beth, Mia and Vince have done a terrific job of doing just that. Beth Chiarella reminds me a little of a sassy Anne Zaberer (only much spicier) who was a local icon many, many years ago. The same energy and charm. The room buzzed with excitement yet there were many small enclaves where more privacy could be had. I get the same feeling when I’m in the Brown Room at Congress Hall in Cape May. When I mentioned this to Beth, she said that was their main objective . . . offer great food in a relaxed yet electric setting . . . where adults could spend a quiet evening or dance the night away. When in full swing, Gia’s will offer three bars and several separate dining venues. Can’t wait to see how the finished product looks and feels. Right now Gia’s has a great feel to it, comfortable yet buzzing with life. Kudos to the Chiarella’s . . . they‘ve done it again. The whole two block area on Pacific Ave. between Lincoln and Spicer is turning out to be quite the restaurant district with the addition of “Cattle and Clover”, an Irish bar and restaurant that is having a grand opening on St. Patty’s Weekend with a gala Block Party featuring the world’s largest “Shephard’s Pie”, the Soul Cruisers and 3 other Irish Bands. Don’t miss it!! Good things are happening to downtown Pacific Avenue and this is a perfect example of it.
