Midwinter Conference Banquet Speakers Announced
USAA’s values mirror those of The American Legion.
On Saturday evening, January 17th, a special commemorative banquet will be held featuring National Vice Commander Bill Bryant of Virginia and Colonel Jeffrey J. Wiegand, commander of the 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard, located at Dane County Regional Airport - Truax Field in Madison. All Legion Family members are invited to attend the event. As commander of the 115th Fighter Wing, Colonel Wiegand is responsible for the organization, training, and equipping of nearly 1,200 active-guard and traditional forces serving the
dual mission of state and federal responsibility falling under the Governor of Wisconsin and President of the United States. The 115th Fighter Wing operates the F-16C+ “Fighting Falcon” as its primary weapon system, as well as the RC-26B aircraft in the global Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission. Colonel Wiegand received his commission in 1989 after graduating from the United States Air Force Academy. His past assignments include flying duties at five US Air Force fighter wings. Previous commands include the
115th Maintenance Group, 115th Operations Group and the 176th Fighter Squadron. Colonel Wiegand deployed to the Iraqi Theater of Operations six times and led the 115th Fighter Wing Air Expeditionary Force Aviation package into combat in Iraq two times. He is a command pilot with over 3,300 flying hours, including over 3,000 in the F-16. At the conclusion of the Teambuilding Banquet the $1,000.00 Membership “Get One” Bounty drawing will be held. Military Funeral Honors Refresher Training Held
Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs Military Funeral Honors Refresher Training took place in Kewaunee County at the Luxemburg Community Center on August 30, 2014 after a hiatus of 11 years, set up by PDVC Nellie P. De Baker. Twenty-three veterans participated. Trainers were Shannon Heberling and Matt
