Alcohol and other drug treatment providers face many different and complex ethical issues. Concerns regarding dual relationship, scope of practice, and professional conduct frequently arise. In this course, these and other ethical issues will be discussed in the context of the ethical standards in the Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 641C. These standards will be compared to the ethical standards of other mental health professional groups. This workshop includes the ethical code for licensed and certified alcohol and drug counselors. Locations: Reno - Redfield Bldg B, Room 103 Las Vegas - Videoconference

Treatment

All clients came from a family of origin. Some of these families are now absent, some appear to be a hindrance to be dealt with while others appear as though they could be a tool in the treatment process. The mental health field seems to be divided on the word codependency; what it means and what role it may or may not have on abuse/dependence issues. Drug options are constantly evolving, and we don’t know the impact this will have on development. We’ll look at what current research says about these concepts, and how can they be used as a part of best practices in therapy. Locations: Reno - Redfield Room 216 Las Vegas - NV Co-Op
