Kids health states, "Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for people from 15 to 24 years old. On a average, 1 person commits suicide every 16.2 minutes. That one suicide could affect other people." Suicide takes its toll on people when it comes to certain things like depression, loneliness, or peer pressure(bullying). Suicide is one of the highest causes of death because so many think that is a way to get out of certain things or when they feel like they should just give up. Suicide could be prevented if teens had better peers, therapy if needed, more of a supporter that shows they care, and better ways to look out for warning signs. When it comes to the topic of suicide, most of us will readily agree that it occurs often...show more content...
Many people assume that there are only one type of suicide but there are four. Egoistic Suicide (relates to the person being alone or an outsider, somebody with low interactions with others), Altruistic Suicide (A social group involvement), Anomic Suicide (carried out during periods of considerable stress and frustration), and Fatalistic Suicide (Where there is extreme rule in order or high expectations set upon a person or people in which lead them to a sense of no self or individuality). All totally different subjects of suicides. Teenagers don't just commit suicide because they think it's all fun and games but they do it because they are feeling helpless or hopeless. They don't have anybody that can really understand what is going on in their heads or how they are truly feeling, most people that have friends like this try and play the role like they know but it just makes it even harder to handle the situation. Certain peer groups can also find a way to a person and cause them to lose hope in things they once cared for and make them want to just give up. Peer pressure is really hard to deal with also, especially if nobody knows what is really going on because the person dealing with it doesn't speak up thinking it will go away. "Peer Pressure leads to first pulling out hair, then depending on others, then hating yourself and

"Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics," announced Mr. Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line. I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk. Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. "What is your topic Cindy?" As usual in such desperate times, my mind turned to food. "Waffles are better than pancakes." I figured that awaffle was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. "Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward to your essay!" I survived to live yet another day. As I walked to lunch, I went around and asked everyone the age old question: "Do you like

Art declares many things. It's a way for people to articulate their views, express their emotions, and communicate to the world in a way that gives them creative release. This ability to exhibit one's views in a imaginative and safe manner is exceptionally important to society's growth, and to border this freedom to articulate is detrimental. Art should not be hidden and concealed permanently from the public eye because some see it as vulgar due to the fact that many people have varying definitions as to what is crossing the line. Only certain, obvious things can be noted as truly indecent.
Censorship is not an easy subject. As an artist, there is often a lot of tolerance for the obscene, from appreciation to detail on the human figure or the unique renditions of animalistic interaction. However, the majority of the public might find the same things that the artists see as a unique interpretation as vulgar. It is easy to see that such a standpoint must be taken into more consideration, as the point of indecency can differ greatly for a conservative Christian compared to a liberal atheist. The two images of what each group considers unseemly would most likely range in their obscenity, and so it would be difficult to put a line where one should be crossed. "If an image offends very many people, sooner or later someone will invoke the law, and along with it judges, legislators, policymakers, and the police," quotes Melinda Hinkson in Australia's Bill Henson scandal: notes on the new cultural attitude to images. Here we have a majority rule, where an image should only have action dealt upon it if enough people want change. Such censorship is easy to determine when there are pieces depicting derogatory themes, such as child pornography or racial notions. But there are multiple cases where there are two sides of the story, and it is not as simple. A statue named Truth is Beauty by Marco Cochrane has recently been constructed in the city of San Leandro, here in the bay area. This statue depicts a nude woman dancing, her body semi–geometric, and although you can not vividly see the all of the womans body parts, it is not difficult to know that she is supposed to be depicted as naked. A completely naked figure,

The importance of writing, I found, was in what you wrote about and its purpose, writing helps you get your ideas on paper and improve simply things like sentences, punctuation, spelling, and grammar. There are many types of writing for different purposes, for this semester we focused on persuasive and research papers, but there is also poetry, fiction, creative, narratives, and even more.. I feel I have grown as awriter in the organization, wording and lead–ins of papers. I also feel I have improved in my vocabulary and using different words to give the same meaning. The greatest writing accomplishments, I noticed in my persuasive and research papers were in connecting to the topic and lead–ins. In the research paper I improved in leading into the topic. My research paper was about cloning and in it I stated, "Ian WIlmut, a embryologist, and Keith Campbell, a cell biologist and embryologist, state in their book, The...show more content...
I liked how I used word phrasing in the persuasive paper. In the persuasive paper you had to discredit the opposing side, I did this by stating, " Some parents and students argue that these books should be banned, but they are mistaken and misrepresenting the view of the book". For this I used different words and sometimes different orders to describe similar things and make it sound more educated and believable. In addition, something I found good in my paper was my discussions of the topics. In the persuasive paper about banning books I made a topic about why they shouldn't be banned, saying, " ...taking these books off the shelves and out of schools they are taking away students' First Amendment rights to choose what books they want to read". I used good discussions to make my point about the topic and persuade people to see the way I wanted them to. Conclusively, the persuasive paper was my favorite out of all the papers completed this

Persuasive Essay On Vaccination

Vaccinations:
There Is No Reason Not To
Keeping yourself healthy can be done in a number of ways, but the most important few would be: eating healthy, check–ups, exercising, and vaccines. A vaccination is considered to be the most beneficial and protected precaution you can take. Less than 50 percent of all Americans got vaccinated in the 2017 flu season. The reasons to actually get vaccinated could include the money you waste on missing work/ medical bills, to getting friends and family sick, but a main concern is not what the vaccine is preventing, but what it is doing harmful to your brain and body. In studies starting in the 1990's, people started to believe vaccines could be causing Autism in young kids.
It is known that for every dollar you spend per vaccine, saves you up to six dollars and thirty cents in medical costs. (Center for Disease) With the average immunization shot costing up to $20 copay, that would easily be $126, saved just for one vaccine. For someone without insurance, the typical vaccination can cost anywhere from $120 to $180 resulting in $600 of medical bills in the long run. (Center for Disease Control) Influenza is likely to drag out anywhere from seven to fourteen days, missing work can severely wreck a family with bills, for example, rent, water, and electricity. In more serious illness like hepatitis, the patient care is going to have to go to a new, much more serious extent. Hepatitis often leads to terminal illnesses like liver cancer and can prevent the liver from doing its job all together. Most insurance providers would rather pay for the vaccines as opposed to the entire medical bill if you were to be diagnosed with the illness, so most insurance companies offer a $10–$20 copay. Vaccines save lives and protect against the spread of disease. If you decide not to immunize your child, you put them at risk. Your child could catch a disease that is dangerous or oftentimes deadly. Vaccines have kept children healthy and have saved millions of lives for more than 50 years. Most childhood vaccines are 90% to 99% effective in preventing disease. In the United States each year, millions of adults get sick

Reflection Of A Persuasive Reflection
Reflection of a Persuasive Essay by Vickie Hale
In my revision, I decided to incorporate actionable feedback from the feedback I received. The feedback I received was that my essay needed more clarification, I choose to use this feedback to help make my argument more developed, I wanted to create a better thought out essay and I worked on the clarification of my argument as well as renewed my research. With that, I did some critical thinking to help work through the weak areas of my essay which was the structure and syntax. Therefore, I incorporated these suggestions because they helped me to improve my essay and help me to create a more persuasive essay. Without these changes alongside the small revisions, I made, I do not believe my essay would have been as well–written so they were much needed. My biggest challenges came from not being able to pin down my argument, it took me a while to come find a side to an argument that wasn't vague. Because, I usually write in a creative way, which does not necessarily have to be persuasive, I usually write fictional stories and people getting the understanding from the experiences of the characters is the outcome, but with persuasive writing, you are trying to get your readers to not only agree with your side of the argument but to see what and why you are arguing your side in the first place. This became difficult for me because I kept feeling like my argument was not central and a little vague. I worked on trying to help my readers understand what and why I was arguing my side of the argument. I had to think about who was reading my essay and this helped. What I could have done differently is choose a more central argument, I believe it would have reduced my challenges. This question is hard for me to answer because I did not receive but one peer feedback, the feedback I incorporated concerning my exploration of the issue was more clarification because that was one of the problems my peer review pointed out. I worked on my clarification because it is one of the main elements, that is needed when you are writing a persuasive essay or any essay for that matter. Clarification gives the essay structure so your readers can have a full understanding of your

The Internet has played a large role in my interest in conspiracy theories. Although I definitely do not believe all of them, they are fun to look into and are good tools for procrastination. Falling deeper into the hole that is Wikipedia, I spent a large amount of my free time "researching" them. It got to the point where I had to force myself to actually work on homework instead. However, I am not one of those crazy conspiracy theorists; I am only interested in ones that seem legit. All interestingconspiracy theories have similar qualities. A majority of them involve the government or celebrities. And depending on the theory, they are believable.
My personal favorites all happen to involve the government, some classics included. It is said that 9/11 was an inside job perpetrated by Bush to purposely start a war with Afghanistan. Some survivors recall that they heard separate explosions at the time of the attacks, which has led people to believe that there were pre–planted explosives inside the Twin Towers. It is a well known fact that the towers collapsed at one point, but this is seen as suspicious to many conspiracy theorists. A common known phrase among believers is "jet fuel can't melt steel beams." Another widely believed theory is that the Royal Family killed Princess Diana. There are a few versions, one of which is that they killed her to prevent her from exposing the Family for being awful and corrupt. The other is where she was killed for loving a man of color,

What are you going to be when you grow up? The go–to inquiry of almost every adult in a child's life. It is asked almost in a whimsical way in the first few years; often met with innocently ambitious responses such as an astronaut or a deep sea diver. With most kids, myself included, the answer changed several times throughout grade school. My starry eyed dreams of becoming an archeologist soon shifted to architect, and then to wilderness firefighter, then soldier, policeman, engineer, and so on. I could be anything i could dream up in this world and i had forever to decide. However, there comes a point in every teenager's life where the question of the future starts to scare you. This distant future is now becoming a very real thing that needs to be figured out and planned, because it's almost time to make that next step. I've always heard it said that high school will be the quickest four years of your life. I had no idea just how fast until it was time for me to start preparing for the real world.
Over the past two years, i've really done some "soul searching" so to speak, and I believe that i've found out what i'm going to do for the rest of my life. Now i know that whatever teacher got selected to read through the stacks of senior essays that contained my piece is probably laughing at that last bit. If only i knew right? But just hear me out. My goal is to become a pilot for the United States Marine Corps. From a very young age, the idea of flight has fascinated me.

Persuasive Essay About The Future
Climate Change
Not everyone in the world has noticed that the climate has changed throughout the years. The negativity of climate alternation comes from pollution, weather, and temperature changes, which will endanger the earth. However, it's possible that some people in the world are willing to help; people are trying to decrease the chances of climate modification from raising. Even though climate change is very bad for the earth and toward humans, no one can put an end to this problem due to several causes which will affect us. Three different outcomes that surround the topic climate change comes from our human activities, environment changes, and human health issues. These are the reasons why it causes climate changes to create negative effects on the earth.
Greenhouse gases are the reason why climate change has affected the environment for many years. Changes that can happen in the environment could be how cold is the temperature today, how much sunlight is being produced during the day or is there enough clean water. The environment gets affected when "the atmosphere traps the heat radiate into the Earth toward space" (NASA 1). When that happens the environment will change the "impacts on human systems which involve food production, local livelihoods, and health" issues (Environment and Climate Change Canada). Different type of effects that can happen to the earth could be "sea levels, droughts, floods and other extreme weathers, climate change ecosystem and extinction threats" (Greenpeace International 1). Other living things such as insect, bird, or plant will be extinct or will move to different places in the world and this will affect human health issues (National Geographic 1). These issues will cause trouble to the earth's environment, and it's not possible to know when the problems will turn more worst. Ice melting from the Arctic has increased, due to climate change and it will harm the polar bears, seals, and penguins (National Geographic 1). My grandmother has grown vegetables in her backyard, and as the climate changes, this affects the growing process of the food. In the summer when I go outside the temperature has increased from the radiated of the sun shining towards me.

In writing it's important to have an understanding of what you're trying to convey for your audience in addition to how you you will present your ideas. Effective communication extends beyond having well organized writing expressed in complete and coherent sentences. The style, tone and clarity of writing must also be considered, as they are constantly changing relative to the audience. Again, analyzing one's audience and purpose is essential to successful writing. Appropriately, when choosing the most effective language, it is important to consider the document objective as well as the reader. In essence, this idea of effective use of language has been the overarching theme of this online English course. Each writing assignment...show more content...
Thus, the style of language used within the text was often industry specific and possessed a more academic feeling. For example, in the text I often used abbreviations and slang acceptable within the discourse such as, SCM Supply chain management, KPI Key performance indicator, and RDT Resource dependence. The word choice in this assignment is indicative of that fact that language is chosen in a manner that is appropriate for both the audience and the purpose of the writing. Furthermore, perhaps the greatest contrast and the most evident of how language works differently in various types of writing is the discussion blog post. The blog post allowed the class to engage in different types of formality of language. The formality of the language one uses should match the formality of the situation and the relationship between the writer and reader. Therefore, as the public audience was a class of online students taking a required writing course in the summer, the formality of my writing has often been very informal. For example, in my blog post addressing my concern over the unworthy power of BeyoncГ© I wrote, "It was the year 2008 when the world was blessed with the images of BeyoncГ© (unapologetically) dancing around in a leotard. Not only is BeyoncГ©'s single lady video one of her most notable hits it begins her what is now a decade long relationship ending spree" (Marquis, 2016 ). The formality

Persuasive Essay On Online Classes
Most people think highly of online classes; get to work from home, get to work on a flexible schedule, and anyone can do it. Though no one has heard the cons of taking one. I personally took three semesters of online classes in high school and had a horrible experience. Because of loose scheduling, poor communication, and the focus needed, online classes are not suitable for procrastinators. To give a better understanding, I will summarize my experience with the class. Me, being a procrastinator, thought to myself: I'll just work on the weekends and if I don't finish the class by the end of the school year, I can finish within the first few weeks of summer. This was a god awful plan. Unsurprisingly, close to nothing was accomplished on the weekends. Friends would ask me to hang out every weekend, and I did every time. Why would I want to work on my class on the weekend when I could be having fun? I would later regret this decision. On the days I stayed home and could have worked on the class, I completed nothing. On these days, I would tell myself: I'll just complete what I didn't do this weekend next weekend. This rarely happened. Thus, the cycle of getting nothing accomplished started. I disregarded my class for most of the first semester of junior year. With only nine assignments out of eighty finished after the first semester of the school year, I was immensely behind. I told myself to get my act together during second semester and grind out these two semesters Get

Every kid wants to go to the moon one day, or save children and families from blazing fires They all have a dream. We were always asked the question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" The stereotypical jobs always came to mind. The thought of being an astronaut, floating through space and discovering the planets. The thought of being a firefighter and saving the town from disastrous flames. These were normally the first ones. Kids would always argue over who would be the best police officer. They would run around the playground playing "Cops and Robbers", testing each other's heroic abilities. Then, there was me. Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to study some sort of science. My mom has always worked in the medical field, so as soon as she got home I would ask what she did that day. It was always different. Some days she would be working with a patient with cancer and others she would be removing an arm or leg due to a horrific car accident. It all kept me entertained as a child and has since. Although I knew what subject of study I wanted to go into, I never knew the specific field. There were so many options. You could be a physician, surgeon, or a research scientist. The list goes on and will continue to grow as new fields are developed. There is one deciding factor for everyone, though. There is always that one moment or event that caused a feeling of awe. A desire to learn more. This feeling came to me in my sophomore year of high school. Walking Get

Although self–esteem is something everyone has, it can sometimes be difficult to realize your worth. There are many tools that can raise your awareness of your self–esteem, and journaling is just one of them. Not only can journaling raise your self–esteem, but it can improve your overall physical and mental health (ref #5). On the surface, journaling is a relatively simple concept. You find a bound book you like, maybe something with a nice picture on the front, and either line or unlined paper on the inside, whichever you prefer. Then get a qualitywriting pen and start putting words on paper. While it seems simple enough sometimes people, especially those with lowself–esteem, can turn journaling into a self–deprecating exercise, or they may have trouble moving the thoughts in their head to the page in their hands. In any event, there are a few simple guidelines that should be followed to make journaling effective in uncovering your self–esteem. First is to ensure that your journal remains private. You are the only one that is ever going to read it so do not be afraid to write as you see fit. No one is grading you on punctuation, spelling, or sentence structure so do not get caught up in the formality of writing. You can even add pictures or doodles on your pages if it helps you express your feelings. The other guideline to follow is that you are not allowed to bash yourself with negative writings. It is acceptable to write about your bad day or the mistake you made at work, however, do not bash yourself with comments such as "I am so stupid" or "I am too ugly". If these journal entries show up occasionally, especially at the start of your writing journey, it is acceptable. Just move on and do not beat yourself up over it, but keep at it and try to improve over time. Seek to find something good about yourself every day, no matter how small, because every positive thought counts. If you find yourself struggling to figure out what to write some days, there are several prompts that can get your thoughts moving in the right direction. If today was a relatively good day, you might write about why you enjoyed your day or things you are grateful for in your life. Conversely, if you had a particularly rough day

Persuasive Essay Vacation
The average American receives ten days of paid vacation a year and millions of workers do not even use them all. Vacation provides a much–needed escape from the daily grind and hustle n bustle of the work routine. The best kind of vacations include family and friends, lively experiences, new countries, cultures, and the promise of relaxation. Relaxing on the beach in the Bahamas, ziplining in Sao Paulo, horse backing in the Andes Mountains, or exploring the city of Vienna in Austria all provide a different experience in a new country and culture. Experiencing and exploring with friends and family is even better; allowing for stronger relationships and creating enjoyable memories for years to come. One aspect of a fun vacation is spending time with friends and family. No matter if in a new country or a new neighborhood, exploring new places and experiencing new things together can strengthen friendships and bonds between family members. Having shared memories from a particular vacation can be a helpful reminder of a happy time when a family relationship or friendship turns sour. While on my trip to Ecuador over the summer, I went with twelve over classmates and also ten other high school students from around the country. Although the girls from school I traveled with were acquaintances at the beginning of the trip, by the end of the eleven days living together in a foreign country, we became best friends and still are today. Writing essay is one of the things that I used to dislike before. For me, writing an essay was a difficult and boring thing. However, I change my mind when I was doing the assignment, "Persuasive Essay". This essay is my first English essay, and it was a quite challenging task for me. In this assignment , I learned a lot. For example, to use the transition words to connect each paragraph. Also, to use other writer's words to make my idea be more powerful. Thus, this assignment improves my writing skills a lot. Before, I didn't know that I have to use the transition words in an essay. For me, an essay is constituted by many single paragraphs. However, everything is different when I was doing this assignment, Persuasive Essay. I noticed that every paragraph should support theme to make an essay stronger. Also, after Ms. Weller marked this assignment, I learned that using transition words can create a powerful link between my ideas. Among words on paper, one hardly finds oneself to question their particular style or preferences in writing. I as a writer can tell you how the basis of my "madness" works, but who are we joking, that would just be utterly extensive and boring. Within the different types of genres one person can write about, I find persuasive, argumentative, and research/informational writings to be the most appealing. I tend to be a very opinionative person, meaning that if I hear any of some sort of injustice or intriguing thought said, don't think twice of hearing my stance on that topic. Therefore, especially with persuasive essays, I will always find my pen promptly trying to catch up, while my thoughts keep rushing in, in order to get on paper. It's a simple enough idea, write an essay about a topic for credit. I'll admit I've written good essays in the past, I just have one issue with this topic; I am not a persuasive person. I don't have a passion to write about, or an idea in my head. Even if I was passionate about something, I doubt I have the skill to convince you. Writing A Persuasive Essay
Today in our generation, much has changed over the years dealing with women's rights. Women have more rights today than they did back in the early years. Conflict over social values affected the wider political environment and the readiness of institutions to facilitate the movement for equality (Chafe, W, 1978). Some people still believe today that women shouldn't have a voice. "Empowering women isn't just the right thing to do, it's the smart thing to do" (Barack Obama). In this paper it examines the equality in voting, sexual harassment, and women equality in not only the workplace, but in their everyday lives.
Voting
Voting is one of the most privileged rights anybody can have in America. Early in the years, women didn't have the right to vote. According to the article Why Women Should Be Included in the Voting Rights Act, women had no right to elect representatives of their choice and they weren't allowed to be elected. Women are the most under–represented people in the United States. Lydia Taft was the first woman known to legally vote in America. The townspeople voted to allow her to vote in the meeting of October 20, 1756. The women's right to vote opened the door for many other inequalities around the world. Susan B. Anthony was the first U.S. woman to vote in an election. She was an American women's rights activist who played a private role in the women's suffrage movement. She collected anti– slavery petitions at the age of 17 and she also
