When a building is built, it is no longer an isolated object. The continuously changing process is the matter we designers should focus on, which are definitely and tightly linked to the events, human behavior that spaces contain. Buildings themselves do not have self-obvious meanings, but people give them meanings. Just like the texts “safe and sound at the left, it is through representation that they reveal people’s sincere hopes and desire. Due to the mutable social and cultural background, the essence of the built environment is changing in every single minutes. Seeing from this point, the view that architecture is able to be permanent is mere fancy. Hence, through practice and research, I endeavor to make influence on the reality based on the idea that spaces are as the entertainment medium for audience, which is in a way not that cautious. This active practice attitude, nevertheless, is what truly crucial for me to explore more and make progress. Architecture itself precedes the criticism. Therefore, I will always endeavor to improve myself and stand firm on what I believe to create the extremely new conditions for people to shape more dynamic and diversified lives.

-Micro Communal Center and Their Urban Network Third Prize of TEAMZERO Award Architecture Student Design Competition Collaborator: Yue Wu Site: Beijing, China Autumn 2014
The project is located in Qianliang Hutong, a old historic area in Beijing. Owing to the fact that constantly incoming people from elsewhere in China, the urban fabric becomes increasingly crowded and chaotic, in which we see many informal constrcutions by inhabitants because of the increasing demand for domestic space for daily life and at the same time, the absence of service from government. In this situation, however, a lot of social activities always happen everywhere in this chaotic historic area. Therefore, through rethinking urban leftover space, here the alley specifically, by the way of Hutong renovation, to on the one hand respect the existing status of Hutong, on the other using the leftover as the base, to construct and redefine the building typology of communal center, tight bend the social everyday life with the "everyday space".
Inspiration from Traditional Beijing Courtyard In the traditional Beijing courtyard, each yard connects all the rooms to integrate them together and also leads themselves public functional. We inherit and develop the original space system to adapt new design purposes.
Decentralization of Conventional Public Space The conventional community center is a proper “isolated center”, requiring people to visit specially. It is a space of heroism, which is set as a center isolated from the community to build a centertoward “center”. There is no direct relationship between it and resident behaviors and routes home. Therefore, we expect to change the rigid status quo and dispell the sense of center.

The alley is as the boundary to define the public zone, at the same time to offset a little bit to form an empty cavity for public activities and acting as a buffer between the public and the domestic space.
Openings in the interfaces of alley like doors and windows were cluttered, of which the quality are improved by integral design. Compared with the past time that the spacial experience in the front of house door is monotonous, at present, the empty cavity acts as buffer providing a condition for a variety of social interactions.

-Dynamic Vertical Complex Independent Project Site: Dalian, China Summer 2015
This complex project is seen as a continuous changing object reacting to the transformation in demond and the regeneration in events. Working mainly as a merge of co-working space and communal center, of which the former one is more like the loose space, and the latter is relatively static, to produce a kind of contradiction and complexity through the “collage. The site is inbetween the boundary of a residential community and a university. The assignment is to make use of the resources of the university, to build a creative working place. Becasue the location is right in the boundary, with multiful communal life in the whole area, I propose to intergrate the diversified life, activities and the working functions, to finally generate a complex project harmonious with the overall environment, which I think is a elegant way to give the possibility for the local in the community to really engage with what is happening besides their homes, to participate in the whole urban development rather than being isolated from that.
Flat vs Slope Spiral

In the so-called Domino System, each floor is isolated from the others, which leave a great gap. The space is fragmental and fixed, hard to break the limitation and the restriction of the solid construction form. But for the constant slope spiral in my design, the conception of "f loor" nolonger exists there, which means the continuity make it possible for the whole building to become a flexible and dynamic system in every moment. Fushun is a city affluent in mineral resources. Through years, overwhelming exploitment has badly demaged the land condition. The land subsidence happens everywhere. As a result, a number of villages near the mines has been buried underground, replaced by lakes in various size. The aim of the project is to make a place for people who former lived here to look back. An upside-down cafe above the lake, of which the reflection is just like a pitch house laying in the water. Old buildings will be reserved and the museum will be extended around Fengming Street .
3. Old trees 4. The central Fengming Street 5. Homogeneous urban fabric
[2] Pedestrian system Follow the original texture of Fengming Street and aim to reduce influence on the existing space connection by the massive museum.
[3] Preservation of existing trees Consider the old trees not only for environment but also for the strong living atmosphere. Melt the museum within the surroundings.
[4] Preservation of existing street The central street plays a crucial role in everyday life. To respect the existing space relationship, a part of the museum be designed underground and make the form along the street follow the original scale. [5] Underground courtyard Within the entire area of Fengming Street, most of buildings are private residences. A semi-enclosed open space is desiged for local residents including public spaces like the tearoom.

Analogy of Original Street Space The original space sequence of Fengming Street consists of street, fences and residence. The parapet is transformed into sunken space in the site, which also make street space visible but inaccessable for pedestrian.
Street to Bridge Compared to other parts of the street, the part in the site is considered as a bridge under which the space is used for exhibition as the last part of the visitors’ circulation. Visitors walk from the hall under the bridge to the yard and finally to the upper street, which creates a interesting interaction of spaces between living areas and exhibition areas.

05 URBAN NATURE -Print Workshop
Independent Project Site: Rotterdam, Netherlands Autumn 2015
The print workshop is located in a historic urban fabric, which means that the overall context of the surrounding environment is quite important. Thus, the new design for our site should be more like a garden, and give a landscape feeling especially for the residents who view the site above the first floor. Inspired by the space structure of normal village, I endeavor to achieve a feeling of random and informal experience.
Another layer of Landscape / Site Plan In the surrounding blocks, the space in the core is acturally the negative space, or precisely speaking, the garden and public space containing various activities. Thus, the new design for our site should be more like a garden, and give a landscape feeling especially for the residents who view the site above the first floor. 06 FOUR WALLS, HALF YARD -Sports Center
Independent Project Site: Suzhou, China Spring 2014
“No need to comprehend in remote suburb, the essence is in your little yard.” --“An Old Chinese Garden : A Three-fold Masterpiece of Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting” ( 文待诏拙政园图 ) Wen Chen Ming( 文徵明 1470-1559) The site is located in Suzhou, which is famous for the historic Chinese traditional gardens. The history as the context is part of local people's daily life. Thus, I use this stadium project as an opportunity to consider the relation of this modern architectural typology and local context of typical Suzhou-style.
[1] Visual perception The traditional Suzhou Garden is surrounded by walls, which leads to the visual block. In my design, I try to reduce that block at the same time of keeping the original visual perception.

[2] Landscape – Building We respect and inherit the traditional interaction between landscape and buildings to make them harmonious and natural.
[3] Spacial Ownership Instead of the traditional private property, the gym is designed for the public. The needs of open spaces is based on design objects.
Circulation Analysis Service - Service circulation are all design at the exterior surfaces of the building to ensure that the enclosed public spaces are not interrupted.

56
public interior interface
Public - To connect public space and functional rooms, two "walls" of ground floor areas are made open further and an integral corridor system at the second floor is designed.
Comcept Analysis [1]Historical retrospective Modern sports host indoors convey a totally different feeling from traditional ones that were closed to the nature. That was the way ancient people in China got pleased and in this design what I tend to achieve is "go back". [2]Form Suzhou is located at the southern part of China, due to which the rainy climate resulted in the characteristic buildings with wave-pattern roofs. [3] Inheritance of traditional vocabulary Traditional Chinese buildings show a characteristic of warped roofs for drainage purpose. Thus the grey space beneath eave becomes a significant part of traditional architecture, which is the transition from the interior space to the nature. And humans communicate with the nature under the eave. Analysis of the Yard The openness of interior spaces is achieved by locating service rooms at the exterior of the building and selecting materials for enclosure system to reach virtual-real comparison.

Independent Project Site: Dalian, China Winter 2013
The design site is located at the second circle of Chongshan Square, which is under large pedestrian volume and traffic flow. The main objective is not only to shape the design standing towering and erect, but also to consider the humanization of the street space surrounded by. Chongshan Square is of a radial pattern. A late classical architectural complex, consisting of multi-story buildings, distributes in the innermost circle. From the second outer circle, the buildings tend to be higher as further from the square center. This leads a reversed shell-shape space for the square-centered area. The suspended structure is applied for the whole building, which tries to release the tower from the constraint of ground and to eliminate the sense of constriction. Considering the different distances of viewpoints,we divide the whole building into three parts. Distant view: The tower part is the distant view, which realizes the identification by symbolic language. Medium view: Design An overhang of headquarters to block pedestrains’ view of the tower. And the special surface is applied to make it work like cloud to further reduce the sense of tower. Nearby view: This part is more likely for pedestrians to appreceive. Therefore, the scale of it is designed to melt with the whole evironment.

-Farmland Intervention Independent Research Project Site: Anhui, China Winter 2016
A Small Piece of Farmland / He and I, He and it Grandpa take a really crucial role in my life when I was a small child. At that time, each time when he had to do the farmwork, the wheats, higher than me, made me hard to find him, which especially was a problem if at the noon I would like to bring him lunch from home. Thus, although not convenient, I had to yell loudly "Grandpa, lunch time now." Thus, here I propose such a terrace as a gift for other kids confronting similar problems, and also for the farmers to have the opportunity to communicate and interract with the landscape, with his own harvest, from spring to summer, to autumn and winter.
