HISTORY & MISSION Willamalane is a special tax district founded in 1944, separate from the city of Springfield, with its own boundaries. It is governed by a five-member, elected board of directors and managed by a district superintendent. Our mission is to deliver exceptional parks and recreation to enrich the lives of everyone we serve.

SWIMMING POOLS Willamalane Park Swim Center Willamalane Park Swim Center offers an eightlane lap pool, a warm-water pool, a deep water tank with diving boards, locker rooms, and an adult spa. Find the schedule at willamalane.org/swim.

Splash! at Lively Park Splash! at Lively Park is a great place for family fun. During recreation swims, enjoy the water slide, wave pool, kiddie pool, and more. Find the schedule at willamalane.org/splash.

FITNESS CLASSES Willamalane’s classes include a variety of cardio, strength, flexibility, and water fitness classes, taught by experienced, compassionate instructors. A fitness class schedule is published every month. The schedule includes the class time, location, instructor, what to bring, and a short class description. Pick up a fitness class schedule at any Willamalane front desk, or online at willamalane.org/exercise.

Cardio

Chair Yoga: Combine traditional Hatha Yoga chair postures with supported, standing poses for better breathing, stretching, and flexibility.

Advanced 24 Form: Join us for the advanced practice of the 24 Tai Chi Form.

Active Exercise: Realize your fitness goals with aerobics, stretching, flexibility, and strength training in one class.

Hatha Yoga: Explore movement through mindfulness and the breath — stretch and strengthen, improve balance, and flexibility.

Beyond Line Dance: Step up to the challenge with this intermediate class. Learn tags, restarts, dances in contra, and phrased dances. Classic Nia: Enjoy a workout with personalized choreography and coaching to exhilarate and comfort. Music from many genres. Dance Fitness II & III: Love your workout with this combination of dance and fitness moves for serious fun. Dance yourself fit to pop, jazz, Latin, jive, Bollywood, and more! Silver Sneakers: Move to the music! Exercises designed to increase strength, range of movement, and improve daily living.

Strength Barre Fusion: Feel invigorated with this fusion workout combining ballet-inspired moves with elements of strength training, and more. Better Bones and Balance: Help prevent osteopenia and osteoporosis in this class from Oregon State University based on research. Try this after mastering Strong Bones, Strong Body. Body Sculpt: Feel strong and stretched! Strengthen your core, tone your muscles, and improve your balance.

Strength in Movement: Focus on your range of motion, breathing, balance, strength, flexibility, and mindfulness — all of which are essential for mobility. Tai Chi: Improve balance, reduce stress, and gain more flexibility. Vinyasa Yoga: Feel good in your body and learn to be mindful of your breath. Yogalates: Yoga with a bit of Pilates core strengthening mixed in! Align, strengthen, and stabilize core, back, hips, and other areas.

Core Yoga: Strengthen and build awareness of your core muscles, with this core-focused yoga class. For those with some yoga experience. Gentle Exercise: Work your entire body in this class that incorporates standing and chair exercises. Stability Ball Strength & Balance: Try a full body workout while focusing on strength and balance. Strong Bones, Strong Body: Enhance bone strength, improve balance, and increase energy. Exercises based on research can be adjusted to your ability level. Water Fitness Ai Chi: Enjoy water movement and relaxation in the shallow end of the pool. Improve your range of motion, enhance balance, and increase mobility. Held in the warm pool. Aquatone: Build strength, flexibility, and endurance in this moderately paced shallow water workout. Held in the warm pool. Deep Water Exercise: Learn to use the water’s resistance to increase muscle tone, cardiovascular endurance, and range of motion in this moderately paced workout. Special flotation equipment used. Held in the dive tank. Exercise That Feels Good: Improve strength, balance, flexibility, and energy. A slower-paced, shallow-water workout that is kind to your joints. Held in the warm pool. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT): Build cardiovascular fitness while improving muscular strength and endurance. HIIT is a cardiointensive, full body workout, yet gentle on the joints. Held in the deep water. Hydro-fit: Increase your cardiovascular fitness, endurance, and core conditions in this aerobicpaced deep water class. Held in the dive tank.

FITNESS CENTERS Willamalane offers two indoor fitness centers and an outdoor fitness playground, the FitLot. Each Willamalane fitness center has a variety of machines to help you with your strength and cardio training.

Fitness Center at Willamalane Park Swim Center Willamalane Park Swim Center has a brand new fitness center! The new fitness center is conveniently located at the pool, so you can workout on a machine and in the pool in the same visit. This new fitness center was made possible through donations from TEAM Eugene and Fitness Equipment of Eugene. We are grateful for their support in creating these new opportunities for our community! FitLot at Les Schwab Sports Park The FitLot is a new, shaded and safety-surfaced outdoor fitness experience that covers approximately 1,400 square feet! Think of it as an exercise playground designed for all ages and abilities to use. You can try it on your own or join a free class to learn how it works. Classes projected to resume spring 2022. Rules • Listed Membership prices are for payment via auto-deduction. If paid month-to-month, fees increase $5 per month. • No membership registration fees, cancel any time. Adult Classes & Programs ART CLASSES Find your inspiration! Adult art classes are great for artists of all skill levels. Hone new skills, unwind, and find creative ways to express yourself.

Drawing & Painting: Portraiture & Animals Ages 18+. Beginning/Intermediate. Creating an upper torso requires a firm understanding of anatomy, plus color and value control. We will also draw and paint farm animals including geese, sheep, goats. We’ll review a variety of techniques: glazing, soft and hard edges, and a variety of textures. Mixed Media: Painted Rocks Ages 18+. Spring has sprung! LECTURES

Using games, practice sessions, and vocabulary lessons in a group setting, learning a new language can be easier and fun!

Willamalane hosts a series of educational presentations for adults at Willamalane Adult Activity Center. Topics include legal advice and more.

American Sign Language Ages 13+. Through a series of games, practice drills, and continuous review, students will learn American Sign Language basics. Legal Advice: Advance Directives Ages 18+. Attorney Bill Atwood provides legal information and advice in group sessions. URBAN HOMESTEADING Do-it-yourself skills can help you live well, save money, and waste less! Urban Homesteading covers a variety of cooking, preserving, and gardening techniques. Sign up for two or more Urban Homesteading classes and receive a 10% discount.

Adding a variety of fermented foods to your diet is a tasty way to improve your diet and your health. You can learn how to make a batch of kimchi in less than an hour, produce a loaf of delicious sourdough bread, and save money by making your own cream cheese, hard cheese, or ricotta.

Urban Homesteading: Soap Making Ages 18+. Learn the basics of making bar soap from scratch. We will discuss the chemistry of saponification, local sources, fragrance oils, and other additives while we make a batch of soap. Island Park Art Gallery is an exhibition space for two-dimensional work with a new show opening every two months. The gallery is located inside the center. Services Willamalane’s services for Springfield-area older adults focus on enhancing health and well-being. These offerings can help older adults to maintain maximum independence by removing individual and social barriers to healthy living.

FOOD PANTRY By working in collaboration with Burrito Brigade and local grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, farms, and home growers, the program rescues food that would otherwise go in a landfill, turning wasted food into a free grocery store for the community. No income verification or personal identification is required.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps keep adults age 60 and older safe and healthy through initiatives that assist with energy costs. Contact Terre Olson at 541-736-4406 for more information.

SHIBA’s volunteer counselors are ready to help! Get help comparing your current coverage with what’s available in 2022. All of SHIBA’s 2021 counseling sessions will be conducted by phone or online. Call 541-736-4421 to schedule a time.

FIDO PET FOOD BANK DISTRIBUTION

G.R.O.W. Prepare for your summer garden with a new raised bed! These kits are created by Willamalane employees and volunteers and come with soil and seeds. Kits include a raised garden bed made of hearty plank cedar that is deep enough to accommodate almost anything. Attend a public meeting Willamalane regularly hosts public town halls about upcoming projects and actively seeks community input. Board meetings Board meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month (no meeting in August) and work sessions are held on the fourth Wednesday of the month, as needed. Board meetings and work sessions begin at 6 p.m. in-person and virtually. All meetings and work sessions are fully accessible to individuals with disabilities.
