Chorus:
I am on the battlefield for my Lord. I’m on the battlefield for my Lord, and I promised Him that I would serve Him ‘til I die; I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.
Verse 1:
I was alone and idle, I was a sinner too. I heard a voice from heaven say there is work to do. I took the Master’s hand, and I joined the Christian band; I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.
Verse 2:
I left my friends and kindred bound for the Promised Land, the grace of God upon me, the Bible in my hands. In distant lands I trod, crying sinner come to God; I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.
Verse 3:
Now when I met my Savior, I met Him with a smile, He healed my wounded spirit, and owned me as His child. Around the throne of grace, He appoints my soul a place; I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.

LEADER: How blessed is the one who does not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand in the pathway with sinners, or sit in the assembly of scoffers! PEOPLE: Instead he finds pleasure in obeying the LORD’s commands; he meditates on his commands day and night. LEADER: He is like a tree planted by flowing streams; it yields its fruit at the proper time, and its leaves never fall off. He succeeds in everything he attempts. PEOPLE: My blessing is on those people who trust in me, who put their confidence in me. They will be like a tree planted near a stream whose roots spread out toward the water. LEADER: It has nothing to fear when the heat comes. Its leaves are always green. It has no need to be concerned in a year of drought. It does not stop bearing fruit. All:

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the honor both now and on that eternal day.
PLEASANT GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH
446 Bowden Road • Ruston, LA 71270 • (318) 255-3132 Reverend Kenneth Sapp, Pastor May 15, 2014 Dear Reverend Sapp, Each layer inside the tree forms a recognizable ring. Those rings in the tree are how we determine the age of the tree, the climate the tree grew in, and other factors. As we look at you we see evidence that as a Christian, you allow the “Son” light to shine on you and you drink in the water of the Word of God; we can look at the layers of a tree in you: The Bark - This is the tree’s protection from the outside world. You protect yourself from the elements of the world with a wall of prayer and trust in God. The Phloem - This is the pipeline from which the inner tree receives food. You take in God’s Word and all that it offers. Without food you would not grow. The Cambium - This is the part of the tree that makes the bark, branches, and roots grow thicker. You stay in the Word, preaching and witnessing, and doing all you can to show the love of Christ to others. The Sapwood - This layer moves the water up through the leaves to give the tree the water it needs. You allow the Holy Spirit to work through you. The Heartwood - This is the firm part of the tree that keeps it from falling apart. You will not fall apart because you have a firm foundation in Christ that supports you for the long term. There are things you may not have dealt with well as a SAPPLING, but as you have gotten older in Christ, you are better able to deal with anger, fear, criticism, worry, and bitterness. You are building up layers of faith, obedience, love, and all those Fruit of the Spirit traits. Those layers make you strong like a towering tree. When the winds and elements of the world come swirling by, you stand tall. God wants you to continue to grow in Him as was stated in 1 Peter 2:1-3, “Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.” And 2 Peter 3:18 says, “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” You are not a SAPPLING any more! Over the past 20 years your roots have grown deep and you stand firm. Sincerely, Doris Marzett Sister Doris Marzett, R.D. The Gift When Jesus celebrated his victory over sin and death, He chose to send gifts to those he set free. He could have, of course, chosen to give us anything: Knowledge, spiritual growth, protection from the Evil One, or even comfort during trials. In the end, though, when Jesus celebrated his victory over sin and death, He chose to give us all these things because, Pastor, He chose to give us, you. by Daniel Sherman

Pastor Kenneth Sapp a loving and a warm man of God was the heart of Mablene Drayton Lee. There was no other Pastor at Pleasant Grove or around this area that meant so much to her, although she did have great concern and consideration for a few other pastors around this town. (hint, hint, Christ Temple, her second church home). If you were upset with Pastor Sapp or disagreed with him, and you didn’t want to be BLESSED out, you would have to keep those thoughts to yourself. She was always ready to defend Pastor Sapp and you know what CAME UP, CAME OUT. There was never a Sermon that he preached that she didn’t come back home and say Pastor Sapp know he preached today or Pastor Sapp know he sung that song today. She was his cheerleader and felt like he’s better than the best. Not only was she concerned about his preaching, she was concerned about his health and well-being and always wanted to make sure that when food was around he got his fi rst. When he was sick she took time to check on him. She’d quickly say Pastor Sapp need to sit down or stop stressing and not let these church folk kill him. There is no greater earthly love than the love of a member toward the pastor. Romans 13:7 says - Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute [is due]; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour. Pastor Sapp was truly honored and respected. If every member respects and loves the Pastor like Sister Mable did what kind of church would this be? Looking down from Heaven above Pastor Sapp today I hope you still feel my love.
