Welcome Aboard! I know that you have hundreds of camp options for the summer, but you chose to bring your students to Camp Anderson and we are thankful! One of our God-given goals is to support the local church and to do that, we want to become a resource and a partner to help you meet the evangelistic and discipleship needs of your students and church. This summer our theme is “I Believe!” and it comes from Mark 9:23. Our relationship with Jesus Christ, our surrender, our repentance, our walk, our devotion, and our direction in life all stems from, and begins with, our personal Faith, Trust, and Belief in Jesus Christ and His Word. My prayer and heart’s desire is that every student and adult that comes to Summer Camp 2019 at Camp Anderson would have a fresh encounter with Jesus Christ, would see the truth of His Word in a fresh and powerful way, and would hear the still small voice of the Holy Spirit speaking personally and would be moved in faith to cry out, “I Believe!”

These rules are in place to protect you at camp!

1. Never go alone – Do you have your exit buddy? 2. Respect your counselor & camp staff – They know where you sleep. 3. Respect others and their property – Swiper, no swiping! 4. Be where you’re supposed to be when you’re supposed to be there – This schedule ain’t optional. 5. Swim only with a lifeguard & life vest – No, you’re not THAT good of a swimmer! 6. Leave your cell phone in your cabin – #anotheronebitesthedust 7. No boys (blue) in girl’s (red) cabins or vice versa – This is called a “Code Purple.” 8. Golf carts & boats are reserved for camp staff only – Say “no” to the temptation. 9. No PDA – Keep your hands to yourself! 10. Stay in camp boundaries – Color inside the lines. 11. Bikes are for you to use – Ride, return, 8

1. Counselor Meetings – Monday @ 4:30pm; Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday @ 7:30am in the coffee shop. We’ll let you sleep in on Wednesday! Yay! 2. Lights out at 11:00pm Get ALL of your animals in the ark & shut the door. Camp A staff can’t go to sleep until you lock your cabin down. 3. Be prepared to counsel one-on-one with students at each evening assembly. 4. Be prepared to facilitate the huddle group at the conclusion of each morning assembly on Tuesday through Friday. 5. Please make sure that your campers make it to their scheduled morning activities. Come to the morning assembly ready to go! 6. Keep your cabins locked at all times. Lockers are provided to lock up valuable items. Locks can be purchased at the Tiki Hut. 7. Keep an eye on your students – make sure they drink a lot of water and eat during meal times. 8. Please keep an eye on your students during the assemblies. Adult counselors can sit in the back picnic tables, but all students must sit in the chairs. Thank you for volunteering your time this week to love on students! 9

Galatians 2:21 “I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace. Ephesians 2:5 He has made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved. Ephesians 2:7 In order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. I Believe God Made Me With A Purpose - Read Genesis 1:1-31 THE BEGINNING: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth…” Scripture begins with one of the greatest faith statements ever. Our story begins by saying that not only is God the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) but the COAT as well (Creator Of All Time). This statement of faith is the doorway to the en re Bible. We must walk through this door of truth before we can go any farther. Before this moment there was no me, no light, no life; there was no universe. There was nothing but emp ness. THE GOOD: Then God spoke. He spoke everything into being. He started by calling the light into existence. He saw the light and said it was “good.” God con nued to speak more and more things into being; the seas, land, plants, and animals, pausing a er each one to no ce that they were “good.” Everything was going according to God's plan. Then God did something amazing. THE VERY GOOD: Everything created un l this point had been out of His unlimited imagina on, but His next crea on would be greater than them all. It was greater than lions, blue whales, the Atlan c, the galaxy and all its stars and planets, and even Mt. Everest. Humanity (PEOPLE) was about to be created, and God made the decision to make us in His own image. He was the model. We would think, feel, create, love, mourn, and celebrate. We would be ny images of God, not only running around in His crea on, but running it as well. We were made to be the caregivers of all crea on. Only a er making us did God look at all that He had done and say that it is “VERY Good.” Not only did we make His crea on be er, but it completed it as well. This ﬁnally gave God a moment to rest. His incredible plan was ﬁnally coming together. THE PLAN OF GOD: God put Adam and Eve in the garden to give them purpose in life. It was a place where He would walk with them in the cool evenings. God wanted to hang out and be with His people. He gave them (us) everything that was needed, and life was perfect. There was only one rule given: Adam and Eve were not to eat the fruit of a tree called, “The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.” Ea ng of that forbidden tree would change all of life forever and would have severe consequences.

THE PLAN OF GOD'S PEOPLE: Unfortunately, Adam and Eve decided that a rela onship with God was not enough. One day they took some of the forbidden fruit and ate. When we disobey God, it's called sin. The result of Adam and Eve's decision to disobey brought sin into God's perfect world. God would no longer be able to be with His people. This broke the heart of God. GOD DOES NOT REST: Scripture tells us how God keeps trying to bring us out of that life of sin and back into perfec on. No ma er what we've done, God s ll wants us to be with Him. PEACE WAS TAKEN: We o en find ourselves feeling empty, like something is missing. There is only one thing that can fill that hole in our lives and it is God. God made you to be in rela onship with Him. While our lives may be filled with despair, chaos, violence, hatred, and hardship, God's love remains constant. We are loved by Him. He sits as a loving Father, wai ng for us to run to Him, and share our troubles with Him. Others may tell you that you have no place or purpose. They may tell you that you are not loved or not important. Here is truth: you are no accident. Just like Adam and Eve, God chose to make you and He made you with a purpose. Part of our rela onship with God is discovering what that purpose is. BELIEVE THIS: you were made by your father in heaven for a reason. What does it mean to you to hear that you were made on purpose by God?

I Believe God Loves Me - Read Romans 8:31-39 REAL LOVE: “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principali es nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” There are many reasons to believe in God and His word, but this one thing about God sets Him apart from anything and anyone else. He loves you, like, really, REALLY loves you. IT'S PERSONAL: Have you ever made something that was important to you? Maybe you drew something or built something and when you finished you were so excited to show it off. That thing was precious to you and you not only wanted to show it off, but you wanted to take care of it and protect it. God is no different. You are His greatest crea on and He cares for you dearly. Even more than caring and protec ng, God loves you and He says so over and over again in the Bible. God even keeps a count of the hairs on your head. There's nothing that He does not know about you. IT'S FOREVER: The great thing about the love that God has for us is that it is not like the love that we talk about most of the me. It is not sappy roman c love, it is not love that comes and goes, and it is not a love that fades or is lost over me. God's love is “commi ed,” meaning it will not be changed. God's love is like a well that will never run dry. God's love is so great and so strong that the Bible tells us: “God is love.” He is what love is supposed to be. God's love is persistent, it never stops. Like in our reading today in Romans 8, He says that nothing, NOTHING will separate you from the love of God. That means that no person, no circumstance, nothing at all can keep God's love away from you. God will never stop loving you. That means that no ma er what you have been through, no ma er what you may have said or done, no ma er what has been said or done to you, GOD STILL LOVES YOU! The love of your friends may fade, your boyfriends and girlfriends may come and go, and maybe even those you love the most may abandon and hurt you, but your loving Father in heaven will always, ALWAYS, love you.

He loves you so much that the thought of eternity in His kingdom without you terriﬁed Him. That thought mo vated Him enough that He gave the world the greatest display of love it has ever seen in Jesus. We live in a world that o en tells us to conform in order to be loved. God says to you; “I love you the way that you are because that is how I made you, and I know why I made you. I know the plan that I have for you. I don't want you to conform, I want you to be transformed by my love. I want you to have a real rela onship with me. I sacriﬁced everything to make that possible. Your faith in others' love may have been shaken, but have faith in this, I LOVE YOU. I always have and I always will.” Believe this child of God, you were made to be loved by the God Who is love. What does it mean to you to hear that you are loved by God?

SAY THIS OUT LOUD: “I BELIEVE GOD LOVES ME…ALWAYS HAS…ALWAYS WILL.” 25

I Believe Jesus Died To Save Me – Read Romans 6:1-11 THE IMPORTANT STUFF: “Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This sounds heavy, I get it. This comes from a le er by a man named Paul to a church in Rome about 2000 years ago and it was heavy then. It's the kind of thing that if your teacher said it in the middle of the class, it would probably come along with “…and yes, this WILL be on the test.” (Don't worry, there isn't a test at the end of this week, but this is important stuﬀ)! GOD SAVES: This is where we start ge ng to the point. All of Scripture, all of faith points to this idea, GOD SAVES US. When we believe this, incredible things can happen! You may be clever, talented, strong, and determined, but nothing you accomplish can save you from death. It comes for us all. Nothing that anyone accomplishes can save them from death. We need someone else to save us. Great for us, Jesus accomplished something that can save us from death. That's it. One man, did one thing, and it had the power to crush sin and death. They never stood a chance. WHY SHOULD I BELIEVE? If you've ever asked yourself “Why does God deserve my faith? Why should I believe?” This is why: When we were headed for eternal death, He stepped in to bring us eternal life and He did it out of love. God forgives. Not because He wants to be served, not because He wants a bunch of mindless, boring, rule followers, but because He loved us enough to save us when there was no hope of saving ourselves. He allowed His son, Jesus, to be betrayed by his friend, accused and arrested by His own people, and executed by his oppressors. The death was public and gruesome. While some cheered for His death and asked why He could not save Himself, others wept. While all of this was going on, Jesus asked His Father, “Forgive them, for they know not what they do.” That “forgive them” includes all of us. We o en don't know what we are doing to ourselves, to others and to God, and yet those ancient words s ll ﬁnd us, “Father, forgive them.”

THE PERFECT ONE: Jesus paid our debt with His own life. He took the punishment that we deserve. He was innocent. He was the one Who never sinned. He was perfect. The willing death of that one perfect Son of God, saved the rebellious children of God YOU AND ME. Now, we are promised eternity in the presence of His full glory, an eternity of peace, love, and joy without end. We are not headed to nothingness or pain in the next life, but rather to God's perfect kingdom, Heaven. Have faith in this: we all need ﬁxing. We all need forgiving, and the Ul mate Fixer came to Earth more than 2000 years ago. Believe this: Beloved of God, Jesus Christ died to save you! What does it mean to you to hear that you were saved by God?

I Believe God Calls Me – Read: Exodus 3:1-15 GOD CALLS: “Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.” So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” QUICK! You've just received the best news ever; you made the team, you got the scholarship. The cancer is gone. You're ge ng a puppy. What do you do? What do you do when the greatest thing imaginable has happened? You tell people. You shout it out. You call your family and friends. You text, You snap. You gram. You tweet. Something amazing has happened to you, or because of you, and you want people to know. God is no different, remember, we were made in His image. When God is doing something awesome, He includes the people most precious to Him. God goes to great lengths to get the word out when the news is good. GOD HAS YOUR NUMBER: You want reason to believe? You want reason to have faith? Go search the Scriptures for the mes God went all out to get His work done and to spread His word. He lit a bush on fire, but the fire didn't consume it. He parted the sea. He carved His word in stone. He sent a fish to swallow Jonah when he ran from sharing God's Word. He helped a shepherd boy defeat a giant. He sent prophet a er prophet. He raised the dead. He cured the sick. He fed the hungry. He sacrificed His son and then raised Him from the dead. He made sure that it was all recorded and preserved so this good news can come to us even thousands of years later. God not only called Noah, Moses, Jonah, Elijah, Ruth, Deborah, Esther, David, Isaiah, Mary, Peter, and Paul, but He is calling YOU! GOD HAS YOUR NUMBER! HE KNOWS HOW TO REACH YOU! You play a role in God's story because our story is God's story. We are His magnificent crea on, His children that He loves, and you can't tell the story of the children without telling the story of the Father. ANSWER HIS CALL: God calls us because He wants rela onship with us. He wants it to be like it was in those first days of crea on when He would stroll through the grass in the cool of the evening with Adam and Eve. He is calling you through this week, and the rela onships that you have made. He calls through His word, through other people, through the world He created, and through song and prayer. God is dialing and redialing you constantly, begging that you just pick up and answer. It is not enough to simply know about God. We have to know God.

The best way to get to know someone is by talking with them. Talk to God. He has broken the ice. He has opened up the lines of communica on. Have faith in this: He is wai ng to hear from you. Do not leave Him hanging. Believe this: Forgiven child of God, He IS calling you, and wants a rela onship with you. What does it mean to you to hear that you are called by God?
