VALERIA LACAYO ART PORTFOLIO 2018-2019
Since I was li,le I have had a very strong sensibility for art, for transla8ng my ideas and feelings onto paper using a simple pencil or a couple of colored pencils. I have always had a talent for drawing and pain8ng in a photorealis8c style, portraying the world exactly as it is perceived by my eyes. However, throughout this year I managed to develop my expressiveness and let go of my natural rigidness when cra@ing my works, something which I aspire to con8nue working on in college and my free-8me.

CONCENTRATION SUSTAINED INVESTIGATION
My concentra8on explores child growth and development through my baby sister’s behavioral and physical changes through these past months. I strived to create artworks that crea8vely portrayed a child’s reac8ons to dis8nct s8muli throughout their daily rou8ne. I also tried emphasizing my sister’s facial expressions and feelings by leaving parts of the drawings undone and focusing on her face and body, as well as op8ng (for the most part) for a photo realis8c style.
