My work The process I have developed through art has been very different, I believe, from any other process. Although I felt an attraction to art and I believed I was not good at it I discovered, only a few months ago, that I had an ability to do art. Throughout the process I discovered , in addition, that I actually wanted art to become part of my future and my life. The characteristic that defines my overall work is variety. During the few period of time in which I have been doing works of art, I have explored several techniques that have allowed me to discover what I like the most and to take the paths that define me and my work.

Investigation The concept I based my works in was the culture of Colombia. During the exploration of this concept I found out I had a constant tendency which made me, unconsciously, base my works in three main themes which I thought were the best way to represent what I consider the most important but unknown features of the Colombian culture. The first theme I explored was the communities and the people, which make up the most important fraction of the culture. I chose to paint peasants (image 3 and 12) and indigenous (image 1,2, and 4) to show their hidden beauty. The second theme I explored was the traditions that are part of the Colombian culture but specially traditions which surround me constantly. The first, bullfighting (image 6), which has been a family tradition since I was a little kid and the second, Botero’s sculpture (image 7), which represents the tradition of visiting national galleries. The third and last theme I explored was the hidden places found throughout Colombia. As well, I had a tendency to paint walls (images 8,9,10, and 11). I thought this was interesting because people tend to ignore the art within the walls, which are structures that constantly surround us and cross our paths. Throughout the process I realized that my works of art are an introspection of the vision I have towards the culture of my country.
