Portfolio Arte por: Cayetana Montoya 2020-2021


What is this portfolio about? This portfolio is about the way I perceive the relationships around me. For each of the pieces in this portfolio I had to really think what I get, learn, and see in my relationships. I analysed them deeply and realize what they have taught me in my life. Especially on this times, the of ending school and the pandemic, doing this really made me realize how lucky I am. But, it also helped me think about what I want out of life, and how each of this relationships has shaped me to become the person that I am today. It was a learning experience that I will take on for the rest of my life. From putting my thoughts into pieces to later learning about composition, color, and so on. I really had to think outside the box because I wanted each of the pieces to be unique different but still have that narrative thread that tied them. I also learned from this portfolio that great artist have to think about, composition, meaning, personal and global maters and connects them to their work and is able to connect to others, which was challenging in the beginning. But as I progressed so did all of does skills. In this portfolio I would like you to also try to analyze and think about how you perceive the relationships around you. And to als think if they have shaped you in any way.


The facades Height: 13.8 inches Width: 19.5 inches

Idea(s): The idea of this work was to show how anyone was a different side of themselves and how that is okay

Material(s): For this piece I used, acrylic paint, sharpies, and makeup on cardboard.

Process(es): The process was painting the background of different colors, then painting myself, and using makeup.


Passes Height: 15.7 inches Width: 15.7 inches

Idea(s): The idea of this process was to reflect on the bond I have with my brothers and how that shaped me.

Material(s): For this piece, I used an old canvas, old rail passes, tape, string, and a needle.

Process(es): The process was removing the old canvas from the frame, striking the rail passes, and having them.


Lulú Height: 15.7 inches Width: 31.7 inches Idea(s): My ideas with this were taking inspiration from another artist, and making it meaningful for myself.

Material(s): For this work, I used pictures of my mother and acrylic paint on canvas. Process(es): The process consisted of recreating a Motherwell piece and giving it a more personal twist.

Height: 9.5 inches Width: 9.5 inches Idea(s): My idea was to analyze the way I view my grandma, and how she has in some way shaped me.

Material(s): The material I used was a styrofoam circle, pictures of my grandma, modern magazines, and glue.

Process(es): The process was collecting pictures of my grandma, cutting pictures from magazines, and paste them.


The Cells Height: 5.8 inches Width: 5.8 inches Idea(s): My idea was to explore the simplest form of yourself and how you are made up of tiny communities.

Material(s): The materials I used for this piece were acrylic paint and a black sharpie on a canvas.

Process(es): The process was looking up human cell groups and later painting them on the canvas.


Rocket Height: 19.7 inches Width: 13.7 inches Material(s): For this piece, I used acrylic paint on paper.

Process(es): The process consisted of recreating a Motherwell piece and giving it a more personal twist.


Pico Height: 6.8 inches

Width: 6.8 inches Material (s): For this piece, I sued an old pallet and sharpies.

Process(es): The process of this was writing the words that my grandfather taught me.


Cipriano Height: 13 inches Width: 10 inches

Material(s): The materials I used for this piece were charcoal, the hand of my brother, and a wheel on cardboard Process(es): I covered the surface with charcoal, then my brother placed his hand, to nally use a wheel.


Brothers Height: 12.5 inches Width: 15 inches

Material(s): For this work, I used Photoshop editor and pictures of my brothers and a place we share.

Process(es): While my brothers were home for winter break I took pictures of all of them and the place we share


Coffee Mugs Height: 3.5 inches Width: 2 inches M aterial(s): The material I used for this piece was a stick, cabuya or rope, and coffee mugs.

Process(es): The process of this piece was getting the many branch stick, hanging it, and later placing the mugs.


Bocadillo Man Height: 5.5 inches Width: 2 inches

Material(s): The material I used on this piece was a disposable camera and the window of a car.

Process(es): The process of this picture was asking permission from the man on the highway if I could take a pic.


Sarita Height: 13.7 inches Width: 19.7 inches

Material(s): For this piece, I used watercolors, hogao salsa, and coffee on paper.

Process(es): The process was painting Sarita, and later using her famous sauce to paint the background.


F·R·I·E·N·D·S Height: 2.0 inches Width: 3.1 inches

Material(s): The material I used was pictures of my closest friends and canvas editor.

Process(es): The process consisted of collecting the pictures of my friends then editing them, and arrange them.
