Android short-cut Tutorial: in support of the “Pay it forward Assignment 4.6.4”. Learning outcome: These instructions will show you how to add a Web resource short-cut to your Android "home screen".
What you will need: ● ● ● ●
Android tablet Google search App/Bar Chrome App Prior knowledge of using Android OS either in tablets or phones
Instructions: 1. Undertake a Google search By tapping the google search bar or App and entering a “keyword” or “phrase”. 2. Select from search results Select the resource you wish to explore from search results by tapping on it. 3. Move resource preview Your resource is usually previewed on a generic android browser with limitations. Tap "view in chrome" - find it under a menu, usually on the top right hand corner. It is usually depicted as three vertical dots. 4. Make short cut from chrome Tap "Add to home screen" - can be found under a menu, usually top right hand corner. It is usually depicted as three vertical dots (as before). 5. Add to home screen pop-up An "Add to screen" pop up will appear. This enables you to shorten the description. Remember, usually a rounded corners grey box will appear on your home screen to represent the resource. Just like With Apps, it will have a description under it. This is what will need to be typed into the pop up. 6. Message verification A message will appear in a grey rounded corners box stating that the "name"- you typed, representing the resource; "has been added to your home screen".
