South London places we love: Loughborough Junction
A recent article in a London newspaper confirms everything that many locals already know – Loughborough Junction is now firmly on the property map. “The Junction is worth getting to know,” reported last week’s Evening Standard Homes & Property section. Compared to its “funkier neighbour” of Brixton, “this low-profile location offers home-buyers significantly better value for money. Nevertheless you will still need a budget of about £500,000 for a two-bedroom flat.” There’s the London property market for you. But it’s about time that Loughborough Junction gained some attention – and not just for being “east of Brixton”.
Why buy in Loughborough Junction? There is excellent Victorian and Georgian housing stock; brilliant local schools; the wonderful Ruskin Park; quick transport links to the City (Farringdon in 15 mins); the growing number of independent coffee shops (Blue Turtle Oasis; The Beanery and Sunshine Arts cafe) and a great live music venue and bar (The Junction) and local cinema, as well as the much-loved The Cambria pub. Projects such as Loughborough Farm and Cafe and The Save Ruskin Park Paddling Pool group underline the fantastic feeling of community in the area. Which goes to show that all you really need is a park, some good coffee and some great neighbours to make somewhere feel like home – and Loughborough Junction has that in abundance.
