The Educational Center has a relationship with the water and the land that surrounds it.The visitors feel as if, even though they are inside a building, they can still experience nature. The indoor classroom creates a unique experience through its extreme cantilever, evoking the notion of standing on the water. The large classroom opens to a height of twenty feet tall, giving the visitors a full view of the nature surrounding them.

AIAWV Jeffrey Mayfield Scholarship Competition Pleasant Valley Fire Station
Project Statement The Pleasant Valley Fire Station is designed to help improve public safety outreach and provide opportunities to support the community and bring unity within the community to build lifelong relationships. The fire station will be a warm and welcoming space to not only the workers, but for the community as well. In the design, geometry andthe use of angles, building placement, room shapes, and the consideration to maximize energy use is relavent. Dueto the wind shadow, the building is pushed to the far east side of the site to allow for passive ventilation. Active power supply come from the solar panels located on the apparatus bay roofs with a slope that accomodates to both summer and winter slopes. Passive heat gain is accumulted through the abundance of glass panels in my building.
