AUTUMN / WINTER - 2015

Welcome from our CEO We are now well and truly into 2015, gearing up for our Easter Eggstravaganza and loading 8 lucky customers full of chocolate with our beautiful hampers. 2015 is shaping up to be a prosperous year for the Yarraville Club, and we have many upcoming exciting projects, benefiting both our customers and the Community Clubs we support. The 2014 Annual report outlined the many Community Clubs the Yarraville Club were pleased to sponsor, including local sporting clubs, fundraising support to local schools, aged care facilities, festivals, sub groups and various charities. I am particularly proud of the generous donations our loyal customers contributed to the Anglicare Wishing Tree – which provided Christmas presents and a little cheer to Yarraville’s under-privileged children who deserve all we could give them. Whilst dropping the presents off in the 2013 appeal, I personally caught a glimpse of the happiness these gifts provide to the children. So a Very Big Thankyou to our very giving members. We are asking all to attend our ANZAC Day commemorative service on Saturday April 18, 2015. This is the 100 year remembrance of the fallen diggers that we are most grateful for their ultimate sacrifice in the name of their country. The parade will begin at the Yarraville bus terminal at 10am sharp and then make their way to the club. There will also be refreshments directly after the service, which is on offer to all

2014 ended successfully with Yarraville Laughs & Yarraville Live Shows leading up to Christmas and the New Year. The comedy audience was treated to the very entertaining Denise Scott with amazing support comedians including the hilarious Dave Callan. The following week, for our Christmas finale, we welcomed back one of Yarraville Laugh’s favourites “Effie” who sold out to another another packed crowd of adoring fans. Rocking out 2104 Yarraville Live pumped up the volume with an amazing 5 acts including Graveyard Train, Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk, Raised by Eagles and the main headline act Wagons. The Wagons counted down to midnight and the crowd were entertained into the early hours of 2015. February also kicked off one of our biggest ever live shows with a Black Sabbath Tribute night with 3 talented and highly charged bands packing out the room. This testimonial was evidence of what a great night was had by all… “That gig was amazing!! It was one of the best live shows that I’ve seen in quite a while Very cool venue too. Brilliant sound and lighting, friendly staff, good beers (e.g. Two Birds) etc. Thanks for arranging such a memorable and fun tribute to one of the world’s best bands.” (GB)
