SPRING / SUMMER 2014 - 2015

Welcome from our Chairman

As your Club Chairman, it gives me great pleasure to be able to advise you about the continued success of your `Community Club’. I joined the Board of Management in July 2010 and since joining I have seen a transformation of Yarraville Club from a Club that was not relevant to the local community and struggling to survive, to a Club that now has relevance to the community it serves and is now trading profitably. Once again, Yarraville Club is the envy of other Club’s in the industry. My Board colleagues and I, along with Chris Byrne our CEO are aware that as communities change, so must the Club that serves the community. To this end, we are continuing to work on the strategic vison of the Club and will keep you updated as we formulate the vision to ensure Yarraville Club continues to be an important an integral part of the local community for many years to come. Under the guidance of our CEO, Chris Byrne, I must take the time to reflect and thank him and his management team for their ongoing efforts, ensuring that Yarraville Club returned to a Club that the community and its members are proud of. I would also like to take this opportunity to invite all Financial Members to our 2014 Annual General Meeting which will be held on Sunday 30th November at 11.00am at Yarraville Club. After the meeting, we will provide light refreshments and drinks and I encourage you to come along and discuss the Club with me and give me your input on what you want `your club’ to offer in the future. Alternately, feel free to email me direct at chairman@yarravilleclub.com.au Over the last 12 months, Yarraville Club as part of our Community Charter, has given back over $150,000 in cash and 'in kind' donations to local sporting and community organisations. This is something that as a Club, we are extremely proud of and will continue to undertake to ensure Yarraville Club remains a significant supporter to the inner west and local communities. If you are part of a community organisation that is interested in partnering with Yarraville Club, please email the Club on info@yarravilleclub.com.au and we will review your request and contact you. It also gives me great pleasure to update you on Yarraville Club’s recent success at the Community Clubs Victoria Awards Dinner that was held on October 21st. • For the second year in a row, Yarraville Club was awarded “Best Entertainment Program”. Our Yarraville Live and Yarraville Laughs program has proven to be enormously successful with sell-out shows attracting a large and diverse group of people. Thank you to all the team for making these shows the success they are. • The success of our Pekish Bistro is going from strength to strength bookings large and small continuing to return for great meals and service. Congratulations to Dave & Amie and the Pekish team for reaching the finals of “Best Metro Club Bistro” category. • And finally, I am honoured to have been awarded “Best Club President/Chairman” as judged by the Community Clubs Victoria. It proves that with the right team headed up by our CEO Chris Byrne, and the commitment of all

.... & the winner is Yarraville Club John Papazisis, Best Club President/Chairman Yarraville Club, Best Entertainment Program Finalist - Best Metro Bistro staff and Board Members, to be recognised in in this way, makes us all proud of where the Yarraville Club has come since I have been Chairman. I thank all the Members who have supported and still support this proud Club. Without your continued support, these endorsements would not be possible. There are a number of exciting new initiatives and activities that have been bringing in new customers who are joining up to be members, such as our Free Zumba Class every Tuesday morning, and Mad Monday School Holiday Program. And don’t forget to get in early for our Christmas Day Buffet Lunch which is always popular. As you can see, the Club has come a long way in such a short time since my board of management and I took over the strategic & visionary management of the Club. I look forward to meeting with all members over the coming weeks and months, I am regularly at the Club and welcome the opportunity for a chat about Club related matters. Feel free to email me at chairman@yarravilleclub.com.au should there be anything you wish to discuss. Alternately, for operational matters, email our CEO, Chris Byrne at manager@yarravilleclub.com.au I thank you for being part of our great Community Club and look forward to sharing the ongoing successes of the Club with you all and hope you enjoy reading our Yarraville Lifestyle Magazine.

Yours sincerely.

We are excited to give you update on our Yarraville Laughs and Yarraville Live shows that keep attracting huge crowds and will continue to provide great acts in the next few months. When you last heard from us we were looking forward to having The Doug Anthony All Stars at Yarraville Club but were not prepared for the amazing response to these shows, so much so that all 4 shows sold out. Standing ovations were the rule and the crowd just loved this great Aussie team who proved they still can entertain and slightly shock their fans. It was good to see a variety of age groups too, with younger crowds also embracing these talented and iconic Aussie legends. Joe Creighton was welcomed back to Yarraville Club to perform his hypnotic “Into The Mystic” music of Van Morrison show and didn’t disappoint his fans. And what a blast the Absolutely 80’s show was – featuring Scott Carne, Dale Ryder, David Steer and the irrepressible Brian Mannix. The band had them dancing on the floor (and on the stage!) to a fantastic selection of “remember the 80’s” tunes.
