Club CHAIRMAN’S REPORT Chairman’s Report I am happy to report to you that the Club is operating soundly -‐ meeting all its operational and financial commitments. This year, the Club posted a profit of $54,212. On an earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation, the Club posted a profit (EBITDA) of $1,049,715. This was up on the previous year by $74,226. The focus of the board and management over the last three years was to stabilise the Club financially -‐ to ensure: • •
It returned an operating profit and, It could fund its financial commitments from internally generated funds and modest external bank funding.
I can safely say that the board and management have achieved this end. The main focus of the board and management moving forward is the strategic development of the club’s vision and mission. Its raison d’etre. To this end, the board is committed to strategic planning -‐ to create a workable framework for the redevelopment of the club around its vision -‐ ensuring its relevance to the community at large. The redevelopment of the club will entail the design of the Club’s master plan. It is a holistic exercise that flows from the vision to the physical layout of the Club. The board will need courage and wisdom. Courage to make decisions for change and wisdom to know that change is necessary. It is safe to say that the next ten years will be unlike the last ten years. It is an exciting time to be a member of the Club. I am excited to be your Chairman and a member of the board. Finally, the Club was recognised at the recent awards night at the Sofitel in Melbourne by Community Clubs Victoria as follows: • • •
“ Best entertainment program”, Yarraville Club, Reaching the finals for “Best Metro Club Bistro” Pekish at the Yarraville Club, “President of the year” John Papazisis, Yarraville Club.
I am proud of the Clubs achievements and I am deeply honoured to have received my award. I wish to thank the board, management, staff and all the members for working and supporting your Yarraville Club. I Look forward to seeing you in the future.

CEO Report It is pleasing to report that the Club has had a busy and successful year and once again traded profitably in what are uncertain economic times with external factors impacting on the Club industry. The audited financials in the Annual Report outline the Clubs operating results but in summary, the Club made a Profit ( EBDAIT) of $1,047,715. 2014 has been a year where the club has focused on increasing its relevance to the local community by implementing a number of new initiatives including, school holiday activities and Zumba classes. These activities are provided free to members. In addition, over the last 12 months, the Yarraville Club has contributed in excess of $150,000 to the local sporting, community & charity groups in the way of cash and in-kind donations and sponsorships. Our Yarraville Laughs & Yarraville Live entertainment program continues to perform to sell-out crowds. It is my pleasure to advise you that the success of our entertainment program has seen Yarraville Club awarded the ~ 2014 Best Entertainment Program’ Award. This award was presented to the club at the recent Community Clubs – Victoria awards. As a Club, we must reflect on the changing attitudes from Government. The negative interaction and legislation they introduce continues to undermine and restrict our industry. These restrictions, combined with the uncertain economy over the past 4 years, has seen the club industry and our club deal with a difficult and frustrating business environment. This was highlighted earlier this year when the State Government without constructive industry consultation, increased gaming taxes. This tax increase placed an additional unbudgeted impost onto your club of more than $100,000.00. As a community club, this impost has a direct impact onto our overall operational profitability and also impacts directly on our ability to provide community support and assistance to our local community. One of our strategic goal continues to be our focus on customer service to you. From the time you enter your club to the time you leave. We are focusing on the presentation of the club, style of beverage service, range of food options, and access to quality coffee, tea and alternate beverages. Our team of dedicated staff is working hard to move us forward and I believe that we are now have a team that have the enthusiasm and passion to achieve exciting things for you and your club. I would like to thank my Management and staff for the achievements of 2013-2014. Their 110% efforts is the reason that Yarraville Club keeps getting stronger and better. I would also like to thank the Board of Directors under the leadership of John Papazisis our Club Chairman. Their support, professionalism and enthusiasm is a key reason to the ongoing success of the Club. They are a visionary board with strong financial and leadership skills. The board of directors plays an integral part in the successful management of the Yarraville Club.
