LOCAL TALENT FOR OUR MEMBERS AND GUESTS In recent months we have focussed on increasing the number of local talented artists’ at our Club. On Friday and Sunday evenings Yarraville Club features live musicians in pekish restaurant.

PERSONAL ARTIST PROFILE Our newsletters will feature some of the talented performers, with the first featured artist being local resident Dave Zerafa.

Dave and his wife Carma, have 2 children, Isabella and Ethan.

Dave is a Sales Executive who has a background in the music industry, and is enjoying returning to the entertainment world with solo and duet acoustic, trio and full band available – aptly named ‘The Locals’. Enjoy rock and soul classics; with some funk, blues and reggae. Dave is on guitar and vocals, and as a three piece is joined by Mick Girasole on bass and vocals and Pete Truby on drums. Combined these musicians have played with some of Australia’s best known acts including The Black Sorrows, Kids in the Kitchen, Venettas Taxi, Bjorn Again, The Moptops, Taipan and White Men Can’t Reggae.

Dave is currently playing at The Yarraville Club on the 2nd Sunday of every month in pekish from 5.30 – 8.30pm, and will be performing at our Mothers Day Buffet – for bookings call 9689 6033. If you are looking for a band, small or large for a private function or event, come and check Dave out, and contact him on 0425 733 904 for private band bookings.

UP AND COMING ARTISTS Locals who are interested in playing at the Club should contact Amie Reynolds – Functions and Events Manager via email functions@yarravilleclub.com.au. Only those who provide a bio, will be considered. All applicants must have own PA and perform play lists that are suited as background music for dining.

LOCAL ARTIST OPPORTUNITIES In 2013, local artists photographer Jac Watson, and painter Zoe Elms held an exhibition and silent auction of their artwork. The girls raised funds to support an anti bullying campaign in schools. Due to the success of the event, we have been inspired to offer other local talented artists similar opportunities to Zoe Elms oil painting. showcase their artwork.

GIRONOMOS PLAYROOM – UPDATE Our little mascot Gironomo who loves to play in the grass, has organised for our playroom floor to be upgraded to artificial grass, which is soft and fun for the kids to play on, without having to worry about allergies. Come in and check it out, kids menu (below), with fun colouring in and puzzles.

MICHAEL WINSLOW MATINEES We all look for something different to entertain the kids during holidays, and this has been an opportunity for them to experience something they are unlikely to have seen or heard live before.

Yarraville Laughs Sunday Matinee Sessions opened to families. Exposing the kids to a performer with a unique talent! We all remember him from Police Academy, and his career has spanned decades using his gift to create voices and sounds – even on shows like the Simpsons!

The buzz through the Yarraville Club was fabulous with nine shows held over April. We hope to host Michael again in the future and potentially other international guest.

Daily specials allow our team to maximise the use of fresh seasonal produce. During Autumn, moving into winter you can look forward to some heartier dishes such as homemade style soups, slow cooked lamb shanks, and some great old fashioned pies like beef and burgundy, Guinness and chicken and mushroom.

INTERNATIONAL CUISINE – Do you love an authentic flavoured Indian dish? Paul, Head Chef has been capitalising on the strengths of the kitchen team, utilising the expertise of Imran Nazeer, (recently promoted to Sous Chef), and Chef Nick have produced some amazing curries recreating traditional authentic flavours. The recent chicken tikka received great feedback, so Paul has introduced it to the menu with either chicken or seafood.

We congratulate Paul for the tremendous effort he has shown, personal growth and development in his time with pekish. We are excited with his plans and ideas for the future. Originally from Adelaide, Paul, his partner Asha and beagle Zander relocated to Victoria, settling in Altona in 2012. Paul has been a Chef for 11 years, and boasts experience in venues such as Appelations and Saltrams in the Barossa Valley. Paul has also travelled extensively and spent time broadening his culinary knowledge in Canada.

YARRAVILLE CLUB ANZAC DAY FREE GOURMET BBQ Friday 25th April – lunch time Our FREE BBQ’s are held 4 times a year, and the next is to celebrate our ANZACS. The BBQ is open to Members and guests. Financial club members will be first served, and guests or non-members will follow, for only a gold coin donation. The Club will donate the proceeds raised to the RSL in support of their ongoing efforts.

HEALTH & WEALTH EVENTS More than a venue for special occasions, live shows and parties, our Club regularly hosts Seminars and Forums on topics of importance about Health and Wealth. We have hosted Amaze Autism, Autism Spectrum Services and Alzheimer’s seminars and will continue to provide our facilities to assist these important organisations in providing information to our community.

Recently the Club hosted their first cocktail event for Barefoot Investors, headed by Director Scott Pape – Herald Sun Business Columnist, bestselling author and radio host.

CHARITY AND FUNDRAISING COMMUNITY CLUB PARTNERS Are you frustrated with the headache involved with fundraising for not for profit organisations or clubs?

We would like to help those in need and simply dedicate funds where possible to local causes. In addition to the existing sponsorships both the Yarraville Club and pekish @ Yarraville have in place, we are aiming to collect more Community Partners to support where funds are raised through the Yarraville Club. Please register your interest via email info@yarravilleclub.com.au and you will receive further details on how to become part of our new Charity and Fundraising Community Club Partners programme.

In March two Williamstown Football Clubs worked closely with pekish to run a successful fundraising event, generating a return of close to $4000 for their clubs. Ask us how we can help you in your fundraising efforts.

FESTIVE COMMUNITY Our inner Western suburbs continue to grow and attract young families, and first homeowners from all areas of Melbourne. The casual and friendly culture is appealing to a range of people, and our festivals are proof of the number of people who have long enjoyed the West or been recently attracted.

Colleen Hartland Greens MP recognised our Community and the fabulous efforts of the Yarraville and Seddon Festival organisers, including our own Phil Keeghan. The Yarraville Club are proud to have supported our local festivals, celebrating lifestyle and the Community.

"There have been many exciting festivals across the West, and I am pleased to have been able to make it to all of them, along with a team of volunteers joining me on my stalls. Festivals are a fun and enjoyable way for residents to celebrate and get to know their local communities, especially as they change and grow. The festivals were a showcase of community groups and the flourishing music and artistic scene in the Western Suburbs.

I always love witnessing the closing of streets to traffic and them being filled with people celebrating, and I very much enjoyed chatting with locals. Community members are always happy to see genuine community engagement by their MP. In May we will be launching our Club Business Partners scheme, where we invite any local business or service to submit their interest in becoming a Community Club Business Partner. Our data base of members is at its highest in the clubs’ history, and as a Club we would like to promote genuine offers and discounts to our members.

Only those who provide an exclusive incentive to our members will be considered as Club Business Partners. Our Yarraville Live and Yarraville Laughs shows continue their success with sell out shows during 2013 and into 2014.

We celebrated the lead up to Christmas with our Christmas Cracker Comedy show featuring Frank Woodley. Yarraville Live rocked into the New Year with a fabulous performance by The Chantoozies.

2014 has also started with a bang, Yarraville Laughs celebrated their first birthday in February with a huge show headlined by Glenn Robbins and featuring high profile comedians including Dave O’Neill, Tony Martin and a special appearance by Shaun Micaleff.

March saw 3 sold out Effie shows, and continuing on with Michael Winslow of Police Academy Fame packing in 9 outstanding shows. The success of our VIP Packages, including a fantastic 3 course meal and front row seats to these shows are giving people the opportunity to see the artists up close and personal!!

We will continue to bring you fantastic comedy and live music throughout 2014 with line-ups such as Rhys Darby – (Murray from Flight of the Conchords) coming up on May 16, and a night not to be missed Tex Perkins teaming up with Charlie Owens on Saturday May 17. Also in the month of May – Jack Howard will be performing Burt Bacharach – “The Look of Love” songs Friday 30th May. It’s been a massive year for Yarraville Club, who together with Cherry Rock have established an entertainment venue in the west attracting huge crowds enjoying a broad range of talented high profile performers.
