The Prophesied Christ Isaiah 7:14 ...The Lord Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. The prophet Isaiah is prophesying about the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ many generations before God the Father fulfilled His promise of sending a Savior to reconcile mankind back to Himself. Isaiah even gave the name of the Messiah, Immanuel which means God with us and rightly so because Jesus Christ was in the beginning with God and was the Word of God who became flesh as He was in the beginning with God (John 1:1-2, 14). Therefore, Christ existed long before His virgin birth. It was in Christ that humanity and deity met, which means Christ was fully God and human at the same time. It is in Christ that all who believes have salvation and will spend eternity with God. It is in Christ all of God the Father's requirements for sin atonement was met. Christ's virgin birth holds significance in that being a virgin represents purity in that His mother Mary had not known her husband before marriage, and remained so until after the birth of her Son Jesus. It is noteworthy to say that every aspect of Isaiah's prophecy was fulfilled at Christ's birth. The prophet Isaiah spoke just as God told him as he was hope to God's people of a brighter day ahead. All before Christ's birth look forward to the cross and all after His birth look back on the cross and thank God for sending His only begotten Son into the world to be the Savior of the world. As we celebrate this Christmas let us remember that Christ is the reason for the season. He is Christmas and without His birth there would be nothing to celebrate. Christ is the prophesied Christ.
