THE NATIONAL PRESIDENTIAL MUSEUM & LIBRARY ARPL 402 - SPRING 2017 INSTRUCTOR: JAMES MCCRERY

The National Presidential Museum and Library will be the center of all the US presidential libraries. Located on the National Mall, the building evokes a meaningful experience, has a powerful presence, and respectfully represents the power of our nation’s democratic process and the service of those who have taken the oath of office. Working with the thirteen other presidential libraries, the National Archives, Smithsonian Museums as well as private foundations, historical societies and state governments, it will house temporary & permanant exhibits, research facilties, archives and spaces for public education. A new type of building on the National Mall in its form will provide a playful museum atmosphere in the center of the Nation’s Capital.

THE PASSENGER: BAR & RESTAURANT ARPL 301 - FALL 2015 INSTRUCTOR: CARLOS REIMERS

In 2010, The Passenger opened its doors in Shaw. Beyond a local bar, it is an establishment connecting the senses into a dining experience for all ages. With the building sold in 2014, The Passenger closed its doors breaking the hearts of DC residents. But the heavens awoke in summer 2015 when the team behind The Passenger found a new space in a 2 story building at 1539 7th Street NW. The objective for this project was to design the interior of this two story space, including a bar area, a sit down restaurant, and two kitchens. Upon approval by the client, we were permitted to make changes to the existing facade as well. The main goal was to unite the three floors, opening up the space and bringing people together for an enjoyable dining or drinking WILL WARNER experience. - CARLOS REIMERS - ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN III - ARPL 301 - FALL 2015 THE PASSENGER

INTERGENERATIONAL CARE CENTER ARPL 301 - FALL 2015 INSTRUCTOR: CARLOS REIMERS

This project is guided by a new institutional vision of inclusion: it creates a community center integrating generations for mutually beneficial interactions. It offers a full range of structured programs and spontaneous exchanges for children, adults and seniors with disabilities in a non-institutional environment. It includes three main service areas; Intergenerational center with integrated services, adult and senior medical day services, and inclusive early childhood education and caregiver support. Integrating and including all generations and abilities, this space gives the oportunity for seniors and children to interact and benefit from the presence of one another.
