Have you noticed the collection bin outside the post office and training room at the field house? They are utilized to collect donations for the victims of the tornado disaster. If you are interested in donating, contact Athletic Director, Tracy Randall-Loose or drop items in the bins. She requests pet supplies, toiletries, underwear, socks, non-perishable food items, gift cards and cash donations. Randall-Loose will send the care package by May 15.
Hart Qualifies in IDA Nationals
The weekend of Fri, Apr. 29, Liz Hart ‘14 competed in the Intercollegiate Dressage Associate National Championships held in Newberry, Fla. Hart finished 9 in the nation in introductory level dressage. She became the first Wilson student to qualify for the dressage nationals.

On Mon, May 2, David True, Assoc. Prof. of Religion announced this year’s Orr Forum Prizes for the winning essays on “Representing Muhammad.” The Department of Philosophy and Religion awarded first prize to Heather Ishman ‘11 for her essay, “Can Jihad be Just? Islamic Jurisprudence and the Just War Tradition.” Second prize was awarded to Kacie Oberholzer ‘12 for her essay, “Muslim Women and Western Culture.”

Friends of Legal Services holds it annual used book sale in Laird Hall on Sat, May 7, from 9:00am-5:00pm and Sun, May 8 12:00pm-4:00pm. On Sunday shoppers can fill a bag with books for $5.00. Over 65,000 used books, music and other media will be available for purchase.

Softball Crowned
NEAC South Division Champions

The Wilson softball team triumphed at their championship games Fri, Apr. 29 and Sat, Apr. 30, earning the title of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division Champions. The South Division Softball Championships, a bracketed double-elimination tournament, started off on Fri, Apr. 29 at 10:00am when the #1 ranked Wilson played #4 ranked Gallaudet. After five innings Wilson won with a score of 14-1. The #2 ranked Penn State Harrisburg and the #3 ranked Penn State Berks played at 12:00pm, with Penn State Berks winning 9-3. Gallaudet and Penn State Harrisburg played the following game at 2:00pm. Penn State Harrisburg won with a final score of 9-0. Friday’s final game took place at 4:00pm between the winners of the first two games, Wilson and Penn State Berks. Wilson took home an-

Berks. Penn State Berks won 3-0. For the championship deciding game at 12:00pm, Wilson played the previous game’s winners, Penn State Berks. During the game Wilson scored
six runs and pitcher Leigh Roche ’12 kept Penn State Berks from scoring. With the final score 6-0, Wilson won the title of NEAC South Division Champions. Roche also earned the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. After this win, Wilson will host the NEAC North Division Champions, Keuka College, this weekend Sat, May 7, at Kris’ Meadow. There will be three games, with the team that wins the most of the three declared the winner, as well as an entry into the NCAA tournament. When asked how the team felt about this weekend, Megan Schneck ’14 said “We’re just going to play our hardest and with heart to win.” If Wilson wins this weekend, the team will advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament on May 12- May 16. The team is confident about their upcoming games. Schneck commented, “We plan to win this weekend.”
Phoenix Tennis Team Achieves Goal of NEAC West Championships by Caileigh Oliver
The tennis team achieved their goal of competing as a team at the NEAC West Tennis Championships in Clarkes Summit, Pa. When asked about the team tournament, player Lauren Kershner ‘13 said, “We played the #1 team first and gave them a really good run for their title.” In their first team match on Sat, Apr. 30, the fourth-ranked Wilson played against the #1
ranked Keuka College and lost 2-5. In the following match against Penn State Abington, Wilson lost again 3-5. The tournament ended with the Wilson team in fourth place. Yet the team still felt proud of being able to achieve their goal of qualifying as a team to the Championship tournament. Kershner said, “It felt really good to accomplish our goal. We were reminding one another of it
constantly over the season, and whatever happened at Championships was icing on the cake.” In the Doubles tournament, Wilson fared better. Mia and Tess Doyle ’11 defeated Keuka in their first Doubles match 8-4. Their second match against Penn State Abington saw similar results – the Doyles’ defeated their opponents 8-1. Mia Doyle also won No. 1 Singles, while Tess Doyle claimed the win in No. 2 Singles.
On Sun, May 1, the NEAC Individual Championships were held. The Doyles won the No. 1 Doubles Championship game 8-4, and remained undefeated for the season in the No. 1 Doubles category. In the Singles competition, Mia Doyle finished second in the No. 1 spot. Tess Doyle won the No. 2 spot Championships, and maintained her undefeated record for this season. Sarah Loucks ’13 competed in the No. 3 spot and finished fourth.
Phoenix Student-Athletes Named to NEAC All-Conference Teams by Caileigh Oliver The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) recently named the All Conference teams for the spring sports season of 2011. Each season, coaches of the colleges in the conference meet to choose the top athletes in each position. Among those honored are eight Wilson student-athletes. Four of the Wilson student-ath-
letes honored are members of the softball team. Brianna Smith ’13 is named to the South All Conference 1st Team. The other three softball players – Tracey Artz ’13, Tara Fields ’13, and Nicole Musser ’13 – are named to the South All Conference 2nd Team. Musser also earned Pitcher of the Year. Tennis players Mia and Tess Doyle ’11 also received honors. Both are
named to All Conference 1st Team for No. 1 Doubles, and Tess Doyle is named for No. 2 Singles. Mia Doyle is also named to the All Conference 2nd Team for No. 1 Singles. There are also two lacrosse players named. Beth Bush ’11 is named to the All Conference 1st Team Defense. Jami DeVanie ’12 is named to the All Conference 2nd Team Midfield.

Residence Hall Closing & Storage Information May 2011 Residential Halls Residence Halls close Sat, May 14 at 10:00am to all students with the exception of those approved to stay for Commencement Week or Summer I. Residence Halls close to Commencement stays Mon, May 23 at 10:00am. Please make sure that your travel plans take these dates into account.
Summer Storage For students living on campus next fall, there is limited summer storage available. Storage is on a first come basis and is not guaranteed. Storage is available by RA appointment Sat, May 7 - Sun, May 22. Storage closes for the summer Sun, May 22! No exceptions! Sign up/arrive early! Storage is by RA appointment only - no access through other staff! You must sign up at least 48 hours in advance. Start with the current RA of the floor/hall you are assigned to in the fall. If that RA is not available contact other RAs.
Bikes Students returning to campus housing fall semester can store their bike in bike storage, located in the basement of Riddle Hall. Bike Storage will be open from May 7th until May 22nd. Students will be asked to label their bikes with the tags provided when placing them in storage. Contact any RA at least 48 hours in advance to schedule a storage appointment. In an effort to clear abandoned, broken and unused bikes from our bike racks, all bikes need to be removed from bike racks from Tues, May 24 through Fri, May 27. Students are asked to take their bikes home over the summer or place their bike into bike storage. Students who are on campus for Summer I are asked to keep their bike in their room Tues, May 24 – Fri, May 27 so that our staff can accurately clear out the bike racks. Any bikes left on the campus bike racks during this four-day period will be removed and either trashed or donated depending upon condition. If you are not returning to campus and do not want to take your bike with you, please consider donating or selling it to the Office of Student Development for the community-share bike program. Anyone interested in donating or selling their bike should contact the Dean of Students, Carolyn Perkins.
