According to Davis, people from the organization were willing to help with the teaching so that students were able to enjoy an eye opening experience and learn more practical skills. anything electrical and Cole Taylor ’22 was determined to learn something new. Monday saw our first day of work. Being Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there were a lot of volunteers assisting from VISTA/AmeriCorps. We were split into four groups which remained more or less the same throughout the week and sent to four different houses which all needed varying levels of repair. At the main street house, a vast ocean of nails were being pulled up which took a considerable amount of time. Other menial jobs were performed across the houses such as installing insulation to ensure the houses were ready for further work. The next few days saw students performing all manners of tasks such as nailing down floors, cutting up drywall and redoing the roofs of houses.

The progress seen throughout the week as well as the abilities of the students was pretty impressive. Initially unsure of what to do, students excelled and understood their tasks to the point that no supervision was required. Seeing walls being put up and roofs being finished was very satisfying. A favorite highlight of mine was going under the crawl space and installing insulation under the house, which was definitely an experience. Wearing the full suit was something that the four volunteers, Danielle Stafford ’21, Sarah Schaffner ’21 and ‘Lend a Hand’s’ Jim Nelson who was a veteran of these trips thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, the experience was something that students really took to in which practical learning and news skills were developed. Returning student, Kaitlynn Bjonnes ’21 said of the trip that, “Compared to last year students were able to try a variety of things and work with different people”. The impact and magnitude of what we achieved throughout the week was also impactful on the students, as Olivia McDonald ’22 notes “Home owners were about to cry because of what it means and
we’re really grateful for it”.

IN THIS ISSUE... Here’s to New Beginnings This Semester
We are officially back in the swing of things this semester. The Billboard staff has grown, and I am very grateful for that. Having read Wilson After Dark-Photos about fifteen to twenty articles for this issue, I am excited to see the diversity of stories beLocal 5 ing published. With a larger group of us, I believe we can do Ice Fest in Downtown a lot more on campus. We have Local Teen Pleads Guilty already partnered up with Career Development for a Wilson After Dark event, and I plan on doing a few other things with News 6 other departments or clubs on campus. staff members, the Billboard is going to grow in many ways. We are going to work harder and expand our outreach online and on social media. Four of the senior editorial staff are going to be traveling to New York for a Media Conference in March. This conference will give us tips and new ideas to help improve the Billboard. I would like to take what we learn at this conference and take the Billboard to a higher level. Speakers from all over the United States and various media outlets will be sharing their knowledge and expertise in the field. With new ideas and tips, I can only picture how much more we can improve. With new staff members,
new ideas, personalities, and hard work, I say the Billboard is up for a bit of a remodel this semester. I would like to see the Billboard get more involved online, whether it be Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, SoundCloud, or even YouTube. I think we can reach audiences beyond our campus. Here’s to new beginnings in this promising semester.

Gamers Club Hosts Ping-Pong and Pool Tournament By Katy (Gahye) Kim
A Ping Pong and Pool Tournament was hosted by the Gamer’s Club in Lower Lenfest on Fri., Feb. 8th at 7:30p.m.. There were four teams of two in Ping-Pong and six teams of two in Pool. Many students competed in a pleasant atmosphere. The winners were presented with gift card prizes, and all participants ate pizza together. Everyone was laughing and having a good time.
Here are the rules of both Ping-Pong and Pool: The rules of ping pong have changed with the score of all table tennis games from eleven points to twenty-one points as of Sep. 2001. When you reach ten to ten, you will be at a ‘duce’, and you have to win by two points. The games were generally determined by best three out of five. Pool is a game of putting a ball on the table into six pockets. If
you finally put the eighth black ball into the pocket, you will become the winner. One team plays the color balls numbered 1-7, and the other team plays the striped balls numbered 9-15. Your team or other team put all the balls in the triangle frame and hit them with a white ball. And then, if you put your ball in the pockets, you can keep hitting the ball again, and if you do not put the ball in, the other team has a chance. If
you put the white ball in, the other team can put the white ball in a position where they want. If you put the black ball in before you put all your balls in, you lose the game. It is fun to just play, but if you know the rules, it will be more fun to play. If you do not know the rules, play the game according to the rules! Congratulations to everyone who won, and all the participants, good work!

Pre-Vet and VMT Clubs Attending Vet Conference By Kieren Marshall
On the 21st of Feb. till the 24th, Wilson College students that are part of the Pre-Vet and Veterinary Medical Technology (VMT) clubs journeyed to the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio for the Midwest Veterinary Conference. This conference is something that the VMT Club has been taking advantage of for years with the Pre-Vet Club joining them this year, and potentially for the foreseeable future. This conference is an opportunity for every member of the veterinary team to learn, net-
work, and be exposed to social and learning opportunities that they otherwise would not normally experience. Vice President Logan Souder ’21 highlights the specifics of the conference noting, “[It] showcases 30+ educational tracks, 120+ world-renowned speakers, 400+ hours of sessions and labs, and 175+ exhibitors.” Being an educational conference, a plethora of knowledge is available to the lucky students who will be attending. Primarily, a better understanding of their field is the main goal and discovering new techniques or
methods will be an important aspect for these students to grasp. With the variety of options available to students. Souder hopes, “they are able to see aspects of veterinary medicine that they may not have known about before.” VMT is a primary draw card for incoming students to Wilson College as one of the only VMT programs in the area. The program is also a good pathway for further education in terms of graduate education such as Vet school. All students going are either part of the VMT club or PreVet club or both and are ex-
cited at the opportunity to further their understanding of veterinary science. Student Lindsey Palmer ’21 shares her excitement at the opportunity to go stating, “I think just learning the new information is rewarding. You have to keep yourself updated when working in the field because veterinary medicine changes. There are always new techniques to learn.” For any student interested in this, it is a worthwhile experience which has great value with cuttingedge learning from internationally renowned speakers.

Nathan Yeom 22’ is an international student who is from South Korea. It has been two weeks since he has arrived at Wilson. Let’s discuss what he thinks about Wilson. Q) What was your first impression of Wilson? Yeom: Wilson’s campus was very small. It was friendly, though, because all of things are a very homey atmosphere. The people who I met, for example Crystal Lantz, and Professor Mary Beth treated me well. I felt they always were ready to understand students and have been prepared for socializing with students. Since I am a freshman, I have not gotten enough experience for college, yet. I think it is a pretty good start for me. Q) What do you think Wilson’s good points are?

Thoughts
Yeom: One good thing of Wilson is that it is well equipped for exercising. The Field Hockey field is available to anyone and there are many sports facilities on the campus. There is also a gym and it seems well equipped. Q) I heard you have experienced other colleges. What is the difference between Wilson and the other college that you have studied at?
Yeom: Yes, I have. My first college was in Singapore. They are kind of cynical. I had a feeling that people were just public relationships not private affairs. It was lonely and boring. Q) How about the professors that you met? Yeom: I have met a total five professors this semester and they are good. They

Q)Would you recommend Wilson to other international students? Yeom: Yes. Actually, I’m not sure, yet. I don’t think I’ve done as many activities as I recommend. Wilson is good for international students. Even though it has only been two weeks since I came here. Everyone I have met are all good and nice. I think if students who may want to come to Wilson have some abilities to socialize with people, they can be a part of Wilson. Q) Which of facilities did
the school you like?

Yeom: I think that the dining hall is pretty good. They have a different menu every day. The most interesting thing was they have a madeto-order station where they cook food specifically to what a student wants. I feel like they care about students’ meals and that they are trying to improve students’ satisfaction with the dining hall. That was impressive. Q) ite
What class
is your favorthis semester?
Yeom: My favorite is First Year Seminar because I like to talk. I feel like I am communicating better with people when I am in this class. I do not like reading, but to prepare for the class, you need to read the required assignments. That way you can participate in the class discussion. I like the class because it forces me to read.

Ice Fest’s Frozen Art in Downtown Chambersburg By Samantha Buterbaugh One of the largest events in Downtown Chambersburg took place from Jan. 31 to Feb. 3. The Ice Festival originated in 2002, making this the 17th year having the festival. Over the years, the committee, the events, and the crowds have grown. This is an important fundraiser for three Chambersburg organizations, The Council for The Arts, Down-

town Business Council, and Downtown Chambersburg Inc. Ice Fest is an event that is filled with fun for family and friends. There are more than 80 ice sculptures made by carvers from DiMartino Ice Sculpting. The carvers have trained for many years, and they can turn a plain block of ice into just about anything. Some sponsors for this event were S u m m i t Health, JLG Industries, Shippensburg University, Wilson College, and many more. Local Teen Pleads Guilty
By Zachary Powell
A teen once waiting for a trial date and time in court, came out and pleaded guilty to a murder in the town of Chambersburg. Adiel Frometa-Sanchez, who is a 19-year-old native from the local town of Chambersburg, pleaded guilty of stabbing Anthony Alfredo-Hernandez in November of 2016. Frometa-Sanchez entered the pleas on Jan. 22 and now waits for his sentence in March, which according to The Herald, could be a sentence of life and 47 years in prison, according to court records. After Alfredo-Hernandez was brutally stabbed, Frometa-Sanchez drove the stolen pickup truck of Hernandez and drove it to the fast food restaurant Burger King. Later that day, Hernandez was found dead behind
a house located on Fourth Street in Chambersburg. As stated in the court records, though, Frometa-Sanchez entered an open plea, which means that the decision is up to the court to decide what kind of punishment, or sentence, that FrometaSanchez will receive. This also means that the suspect has time to think about what his punishment will be, because ultimately the decision is not in the hands of Frometa-Sanchez, but he did not agree to his punishment right away. The former supervisor of Frometa-Sanchez worked with Pennsylvania State Police to try and confirm that Sanchez had been recently involved in a murder. The supervisor then told police that he saw blood on a vehicle.

They have a double-wide ice slide for children. Penns Woods Printmakers had display, which was an exhibit of paintings, drawings, linocuts, and etchings. They also give a tour at the old jail,

and they have a 5k run for anyone to join. It may be cold during this time of year, but if you have not been to Ice Fest before I encourage you to go to it! It is definitely a lot of fun, and the ice sculptures are fascinating to look at. It’s amazing how much ice was used for the sculptures. The art is beautiful, and it should be spread more around the community.

Steven Tyler Opens Second “Janie’s House” Location
By Lyssa Horton
Steven Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith, has opened up yet another home for girls and women who have been abused or neglected. In his hit song, “Janie’s Got a Gun” (1989), Tyler describes the life of a girl named Janie who was abused by her father and gets the ultimate violent revenge as she ends up murdering him in self-defense. Tyler has realized over the course of his life that domestic abuse and violence are plights that needs to be addressed, and his organization “Janie’s Fund” helps to disseminate awareness of this issue. Janie’s Fund is a philanthropic initiative created by Tyler in partnership with

When you hear the word ‘Chicago’, what comes to mind? Chicago the Musical? Chicago University? Chicago pizza? You can think of many things related to Chicago. Chicago is not only the third largest city in the US, following New York and Los Angeles, but it is also a famous city of sightseeing for many people; including me. Chicago is famous also because of the beautiful buildings. It is called the “City of Architectural Aesthetics”. In 1871, there was a big fire that dam-

Janie’s Fund also has two important goals: to bring much-needed awareness to this issue and to generate financial support to ensure that girls receive the most effective services available to them to help overcome that sense of helplessness. The first house was opened in 2017 just outside of Atlanta, and this one had its grand opening in Memphis on Feb. 5, 2019. There is a third house expected to open in Las Vegas later this year as well. This service is extremely important, beneficial, and needed in our society because each year in the Unit-

Tyler’s “Janie’s Houses” are a valiant effort in the hopes of allowing girls and women who have been torn down by emotional and physical trauma to be built back up again, and to have their voices heard – rather than stifled which they had been for too long. Architecture: Chicago are a lot of places to go such
Cruise Building Tour: In Chicago, there are a lot of gorgeous buildings. The Cruise Building tour is famous. As in “we can see as much as I know,” because a guide explained the history and meanings for each building in detail on a cruise, you can understand Chicago well. * Millennium Park: The park itself is nice, and you can also see Crown Fountain and Cloud Gate. Tip: If the weather is nice, it is better to take your lunch out and to eat at a bench in the park. * John Hancock Center: If you see Chicago from a high place, you can know why Chicago is called the City of Architecture and Plan City. Tip: You have to see the view at night at this center. The observatory is good too, but you can see the nice night view while you drink a cocktail, beer or beverage at a bar on the 96th floor. Navy Pier: The Navy Pier is at the point where the Chicago River flows in to the Lake Michigan. The scenery is so good! There are amusement park rides, a Ferris Wheel, and restaurants. Tip: It is better to go there at sunset; it is so beautiful! In addition to these spots, there

Lizard
Electronic-tinged, pop-rock band from New York, VISTA, performed at the Lizard Lounge in Lancaster, Pa on Feb. 2, 2019. The band 25th Hour, formed in Lancaster while band members attended Millersville University, opened. Both performances were filled with energy and enthusiasm. The Lizard Lounge, on the ground floor of the building, is a part of the Chameleon Club. Designed to look like an underground performance stage, the Lizard Lounge is a smaller performance venue for smaller bands and crowds. It was a small stage that was

practically a step higher from the rest of the floor, which fit both of the bands’ performances well. 25th Hour started the show with some of their originals. The lead singer, Tabi Rudy, sang her heart out and made conversation with the crowd, most of who seemed to be friends of the band. The bass player, Andrew Higgins, joked while performing, especially with the drummer, Tyler Samsel, while the band played a slow song. The two guitar players, Nathan Kraus and Paul Lerario, would try to get the crowd to interact with the songs throughout the performance. At one point, Rudy spilled her drink on the stage and asked someone to grab napkins in between verses in a
ued singing the song while cleaning the mess up with her foot moving the napkins around. The band also did a cover of an audience member’s favorite song for their birthday. Both bands helped get 25th Hour’s equipment off the stage and set up VISTA’s equipment so the switch in sets could go smoother. VISTA entered the stage in a perfectly fitting dramatic fashion for them. Peter Jenkins, the live drummer for VISTA, entered the stage first, followed by the bass player they’d asked to play with them and Greg

into their newest single, “Born For Blood.” Then lead vocalist, Hope Vista, entered the stage and started singing immediately to the song. During their performance, Vista asked how to correctly pronounce Lancaster and said, “We always get it wrong when we come here, so we always double check.” They continued to sing, dance around the stage, and joke with each other, making the crowd laugh. The group also

sang a new song called “Faults” which Almeida and Vista joked about releasing in the new year, but most likely are not going to. The song is personal to Vista, giving listeners a look into her struggles throughout her life. 25th Hour was present in the crowd, having just as much fun as everyone else. VISTA rounded out their show by saying how great they were that we went to the show and told the crowd to meet them at their merchandise table in the front of the venue. VISTA made conversation with their fans, took photos, and gave autographs to people who asked. Having been able to interview VISTA before the concert, I gave them a copy of the Billboard when I met them outside the venue. Hope Vista posted a photo of the article on her Instagram story, saying, “Thank you so much!” VISTA is a down-to-earth band that really appreciates

Controversy
By Olivia Shirk
When news first popped up that Maroon 5 was going to be performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, people got excited. On top of it all, they promised to perform “Sweet Victory” from SpongeBob Squarepants. Who could ask for more? The NFL could, apparently. Not only was Maroon 5 not the NFL’s first pick, they were much further down the list. Reportedly, Rihanna was asked first to perform. She decided to turn them down to remain in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, who has not played a game since March of 2017. After Rihanna turned the NFL down, P!nk was asked if she would perform. She also turned them down due to the lengthy negotiation process. Third in the list was pop singer Cardi B. Much like

Metal in the Mountains is a metal festival that got its first start in 2017. Its home base is in Pipestern, West Virginia, at the Pipestern Event Center owned by Anthony and Anna Ferraraccio. They have previously received complaints about the noise and profanity in their music, but nothing has come from it. Law enforcement backed them up by citing both the US Constitution and the West Virginia Constitution. However, a new group is trying to put a stop to the festival. The Ferraraccios received a handwritten letter in the mail in early February threatening the venue and their own home if they do not stop the concert. Anthony Ferraraccio expressed his astonishment in a live Facebook video soon after receiving the letter from the self-proclaimed “Bible Thumpers.” (Courtesy of: Metal Sucks) Aside from the spelling errors, the anonymous writ-

A lot of the popular controversy happened when Maroon 5 introduced the beginning of Sweet Victory, but then
brought out Travis Scott for “Sicko Mode.” Fans of the iconic cartoon were less than pleased. The question arises, however, if Maroon 5 actually said they would officially play “Sweet Victory” or not. The band posted many tweets teasing the song and fans began a petition which gained over 1 million signatures asking them to perform it at the halftime show. The petition started after news that SpongeBob creator, Stephen Hillenburg, had passed away. The stadium teased clips of “Sweet Victory”, and Travis Scott’s newest album cover supposedly resembles Bikini Bottom. While it did not happen, and fans were incredibly disappointed by Adam Levine’s attempt to remedy the situation, perhaps it was better that the song was not performed.

er makes it clear that they are part of a violent group of religious zealots. They mention that they have already destroyed the property of another venue and the business owner’s home as well. They threaten to do the same, and mention that they have been tampering with the advertising of Metal in the Mountains, referring to the ad coordinator’s first name. While the Ferraraccios have not expressed great concern over the situation, it would seem prudent to keep an eye out, should anyone attend the festival. Being an avid lover of more mainstream festivals like Warped Tour, this could be considered frightening. What would happen if the zealots become bold enough to go after some of these other genres, moving on from metal? Would they burn down more homes in some mockery of a “witch hunt” for the sake of their cause? Is their cause actually religious, or is it a cry for attention?

Voice Actor Faces Sexual Harassment Allegations By Olivia Shirk
Vic Mignogna is a huge name in the anime community, particularly for his work as Ed Elric in “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” and Broly in “Dragon Ball Z: Broly.” He has also voiced Qrow Branwen in RWBY, an animation series created by Monty Oum in 2013. However, the voice actor is under some serious fire from all sides of social media. A few weeks ago, Mignogna was let go from both Funimation and Rooster Teeth after sexual harassment accusations arose against him. The majority of these allegations included Mignogna allegedly touching the fans inappropriately, hugging them or kissing them without consent, and one co-star was also accusing him of threatening her with sexual violence, nonverbally. Funimation is not on re-
cord as making an announce- touchy-feely family. Mignogna has also
been removed from several future conventions due to these allegations on top of losing his contracts with Rooster Teeth and Funimation. Rooster Teeth has not said who they will replace the voice of Qrow Branwen with. Fans have some validation that two large animation companies are standing behind them. Their firing of Mignogna says, “We believe you.” For someone who has been violated by a celebrity, the support of these companies are a huge relief. Far too often largely famous celebrities are given a smack on the wrist and allowed to continue their work despite doing horrible things, simply because they are famous and “iconic.” Hopefully with the crackdown on Mignogna, other companies will follow suit and be stricter about appropriate behavior for all employees.
