It’s all in a title

Depending on what resource you consult, the title page of a yearbook should contain • the name of the book; • the year; • the volume number; • the complete address of the school including phone number; and • the school’s enrollment in addition to whatever photographs and/or artwork are required to continue the theme development from the cover and front endsheets. “Yearbooks need title pages not so much for the current student who is receiving the book the year it is published, as for the adult who will look back at the book in years to come,” Susan Komandosky, publications adviser at Round Rock (Texas) HS. Beth, Schull, Director of the Arkansas Scholastic Press Association, went a step further. “Just as a novel has a title page, so the story of your year needs a page to set up the coverage. This readers’ aid provides information for those not on your campus, as well as serves as to refresh memories of your alumni 10 or 20 years down the road.”
