Yearbook editors must make decisions that give fashion coverage distinction for the year and the geographical environment. 1. Decide whether the focus is on covering fashions of the day globally or on fashions at a particular school. They are obviously quite different. Also, a comparison might be fun. Madison Avenue said to wear that ... but we wore this .… 2. Even a fashion story can have an angle to it. For instance, the trends everyone love to hate; how to look trendy but still fit the dress code; connections to where people shop — from thrift stores to Nordstrom. Students may bring in photos of their parents in high school. How much has changed? What goes around? What about schools with uniforms? Or schools with “unwritten” uniform guidelines, meaning social standards? Or “uniforms” for particular social events, from sports crowds to shopping masses? We created paper dolls one year on the spread. The heading was “Cut it Out,” and the double meaning was that the story was making fun of the lame things people wore….
