7 Mistakes When Buying a Spa Warren Anderson

Let me share with you 7 true stories about real people and the mistakes they made when investing in their spa.

Warren Anderson Registered Building Practitioner #DB-L25310

First a word about myself and Endless Spas… “I’ve worked in the spa business since the 1970’s and have advised thousands of people about the enjoyment and benefits gained from hydrotherapy and hot water. As someone who has suffered back and leg problems, resulting from the old days of being a tradesperson and as someone who has spent time enjoying my spa with family, including the grandchildren, I know first-hand which spa will offer the best solution for your needs. My wife and I co-founded Endless Spas; an Australian owned family business. Endless Spas now employs a team of experts including six, second generation family members, all passionate about providing customers with the benefits of spas.”

Choosing a spa on price alone. A bargain is only a bargain when you get what you ‘need’ and ‘want’ at the ‘price’ you pay. Quote: “I bought a spa online; it was so much cheaper than in store; however I just found out that it does not meet Australian standards and I cannot buy any spare parts”.

Choosing a spa by the number of jets. Hydrotherapy massage is one of the major reasons why people invest in a spa. Quote: “I bought a spa at the same price as our friends; however my spa came with more jets than theirs. I was really happy, as I thought that I had made a better choice with better massage; to my disappointment the hydrotherapy massage in their spa was so much more superior to ours.

Choosing a spa that is more expensive to run. The cost of owning a spa involves filtration, heating and consumables. Quote: "My first spa had a filtration pump that was about 90 cents per day to run. My new spa has a pump that is less than 30 cents a day to run and I control it’s operation by WIFI."

Choosing a spa that won’t stay hot. There are 6 possible heating combination options available for spas. Quote: “This is our second spa purchase and this time we want a spa that stays hot for at least an hour while we watch our favourite TV show. The last spa we had, did not maintain the required temperature and we had to get out before we wanted to!”

Choosing a spa with no aftercare service. There are six basic “spa care” rules every spa owner should observe. Quote: “We bought our spa from a retailer who didn’t offer any water quality classes. Within 12 months we had to replace our heater due to poor water chemistry maintenance. We were not given enough information on how to look after the water to prevent damage to the spa equipment.”

Choosing a spa with the longest warranty. The warranty is only as good as the company offering it. Check out the spa retailer’s trading history. http://www.abr.business.gov.au/Index.aspx

Quote: “I purchased my spa four years ago from a “well known” spa retailer who offered a ten year warranty. I called this retailer to request a service call for my spa under the warranty terms. They told me they wouldn’t honour the warranty, as I hadn’t purchased my spa from them. This retailer was however trading under the same name of the original retailer. This time, I made sure we knew who we were buying from and how long they had been in business.”

Choosing a spa after little research. Make sure the spa you select meets your needs. Quote: “We purchased a spa from our local spa retailer as we couldn’t be bothered traveling to view other options. We thought all spas were the same - just heated water with jets and a pump or two. We were clearly proven wrong, after soaking in our neighbours recently purchased spa. They had endless options; Wifi control system, Bluetooth Stereo, Tranquillity Fall, DynaStar Lighting, Reflexology, Direct Flow (individual seating pressure control) Salt Water & Ultra Violet sanitization systems as well as Neck/Shoulder Massage. The best feature was the comfortable seating arrangement.”
