MUSIC EVENTS AT WHS Spring 2020
SCHOLARS’ RECITAL Thursday 23rd January 2020 19:00 - 20:30 / Senior Hall
Welcome Welcome to the Spring Term 2020 at Wimbledon High School. This booklet compliments the Imagine guide, given to all pupils at the start of the academic year, where there is lots of information about each of the co-curricular clubs that support the musical development of all pupils. This booklet contains information on the different concerts, recitals, services and events taking place in the Spring Term, and includes links to TryBooking to allow you to acquire tickets. Tickets to many of our events, including all WHS Young Musician of the Year, Jigsaw Players and Blues & Roots Ensemble concerts, are free. However, we do ask for you to book tickets for these through TryBooking to ensure that the events are set up with the correct number of chairs and the right amount of catering, thus avoiding waste. All of these events can also be found on the main WHS website at https://www.wimbledonhigh.gdst. net/our-community/event-booking. We do check tickets at all events so please do bring your tickets with you – preferably as a download on your mobile phone.
Some of our concerts feature lots of different musicians, and as such some events do sell out quickly. In case of an event selling out, we prioritise the parents with tickets who arrive on time for seats. If you arrive late it might be that we have allocated your empty seat to someone on the waiting list, assuming you are unable to attend the concert. If this is the case we will do our best to find you a seat in the interval. If you no longer require a ticket, please do apply for a refund through your account on TryBooking, allowing the seat to be used by someone else. At the back of this guide there is a handy table showing you which ensembles are required in the various different events; please do use this to help plan which events you would like tickets for. We often post pictures and recordings from our events on our Twitter @Music_WHS – do follow us if you would like to see these. I look forward to welcoming you to the various different events throughout the term.

The annual Battle of the Bands sees bands from WHS and other local schools compete to be named Band of the Year. Our theme this year is America verses the UK – expect lots of contrasting performances! Our Battle of the Bands is a great start to the second half of term, organised by Year 12 pupils and with an audience vote to work alongside the thoughts of the adjudicator. The event also raises money for a local charity to help fund their work. Refreshments from 18:45.
