This cruise is normally undertaken as a return trip, giving the traveller the opportunity to break their journey before returning on a later boat. A delightful 45 minute sightseeing cruise from Bowness Bay (with full commentary) to enjoy the magnificent mountain scenery, lovely secluded bays, shoreline and the many wooded islands around the central lake. Windermere Lake Cruises Groups Information Windermere Lake Cruises have designed this brochure with teachers and responsible adults in mind. We have tried to take into account the National Curriculum and link its requirements to the trips and packages that are available for schools and children’s groups alike. l

Pre-visits are available at all the attractions in this brochure. This enables the teacher to make a judgement on the suitability of their chosen package.

Risk assessments for most of the attractions are available (some can be downloaded, please check on booking). Teachers/responsible adults are welcome to visit the individual attractions and carry out their own assessments.

Holker Hall & Gardens Explore the much loved family home of Lord and Lady Cavendish without the hindrance of ropes and barriers. Holker Hall is a wonderful example of the neo-gothic style, with all the space and charm of a Victorian stately home. The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction The World of Beatrix Potter™ is a vibrant family attraction, bringing to life all 23 enchanting stories in a magical recreation of the beautiful Lake District countryside. Windermere Lake Cruises has ample parking for coaches at both Lakeside and Bowness and there is space for dropping off at Ambleside.

On-Board Facilities Toilets are available on all of our ‘steamers’ and modern launches (check for disabled access). Many of our vessels have licensed bars and/or tea bars. So whilst enjoying the marvellous panoramic views, why not treat yourself to a tipple of your choice, or how about a cup of warming soup to prepare you for your journey home?

m Facilities for Wheelchair Users Wheelchair users are strongly advised to call to confirm which vessel is operating which service. Our ‘Steamers’ are suitable for wheelchair users but on-board toilet facilities can only be reached by means of stairs. However there are adapted toilets at Lakeside, Bowness and Ambleside, and ‘Radar’ facilities close to Ambleside and Bowness piers. The main saloons are wheelchair accessible on Teal and Swan but not on Tern (although there is ample covered accommodation).
