Slow play may be penalized in accordance with USGA Rule 6-7.

Winchester CC Local Rules 1. Boundaries of hazards: Unless marked by paint, in any case where red or yellow stakes generally indicate the beginning or end of a hazard adjacent to a mowed area of the course, the boundary of the hazard between the stakes shall be defined (irrespective of the actual placement of the stakes) as follows: All un-mowed areas (including rocks) shall be considered within the hazard; All mowed areas shall be considered outside the hazard. 2. Immovable Obstructions: On holes #1, 4, 6, 9, and 12 the drains and large rocks immediately surrounding the drains are deemed to be immovable obstructions. 3. On holes # 2, 8, 11, 12, and 17: players may, at their option, play a provisional ball from the tee for balls that may be lost in the hazard. If the player plays a provisional ball, the player can no longer proceed under Rule 26-1 and must play the original ball if it is found outside the hazard. If the ball is found in the hazard, the player may either play the original ball or continue with the provisional ball.

Winchester CC Local Rules 4. Environmentally-Sensitive Water Hazards are marked by yellow or red stakes with green tops. If a player’s ball lies in an environmentally-sensitive hazard, it is considered lost in the hazard. If the environmentally sensitive area interferes with a player’s stance or swing, and the ball lies through the green, the player must take appropriate relief without penalty. 5. Embedded Ball Rule: Embedded ball rule is in effect through the green. You may lift, clean, and drop, without penalty, as near as possible to the spot but not nearer the hole. 6. Distance-Measuring Devices: A player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only.

Winchester CC Local Rules 7. Power Lines: If a ball strikes a power line or cable, the stroke shall be cancelled and replayed, without penalty. 8. Staked Trees: If a staked tree (or the stake) interferes with a player’s stance or swing, the ball must be lifted, without penalty, and dropped in accordance with Rules 24-2b (Immovable Obstructions). 9. Aeration Holes: Through the green, a ball that comes to rest in or on an aeration hole may be lifted without penalty, cleaned, and dropped as near as possible to where it lay but not nearer the hole. If the ball is on the green, it may be placed rather than dropped. 10. Seams of Cut Turf: Through the green, seams of cut turf (but not the turf itself) are deemed to be ground under repair provided that the interference solely with a stance is not considered to be interference under Rule 25-1 (Abnormal Ground Conditions).

Winchester CC Local Rules 11. All Public Roads are deemed to be out of bounds: If a ball crosses or comes to rest on a paved public road it is considered out of bounds. “A ball which crosses a public road defined as out of bounds and comes to rest beyond that road is out of bounds, even though it may lie on another part of the course. 12. Obstructions Near the Putting Green: Relief from interference by an immovable obstruction may be taken under Rule 24-2. In addition, if a ball lies off the putting green but not in a hazard and an immovable obstruction on or within two club-lengths of the putting green and within two club-lengths of the ball intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may take relief as follows: The ball must be lifted and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay that (a) is not nearer the hole, (b) avoids intervention and (c) is not in a hazard or on a putting green. The ball may be cleaned when lifted. 13. On hole #8: A player seeking relief from the Abnormal Ground Condition on #8 that is marked as Ground Under Repair may lift, clean, and drop their ball within one clublength of the margin of the area defined as Ground Under Repair in the nearest closely mown area that is equidistant to the hole of where their ball came to rest in the condition.

Tally Ho Hark Away The sun has just peep'd its head over the hill, And the ploughboy is whistling so blithe in the fields, The birds they are singing so sweet on the sprays, Says the huntsman to his dogs, "Tally-ho! Hark away!" Tally-ho! Hark Away! Tally-ho! Hark Away! Tally-ho! Tally-ho! Tally-ho! Hark Away! Come, now my brave sportsmen and make no delay, Quickly saddle your horses and let's brush away, For the fox is in view and he's kindled with scorn, Come along, my brave sportsmen and join the shrill horn. He led us a chase, more than twenty long miles, Over hedges, over ditches, over gates and over stiles; Little David came up with his musical horn, "We shall soon overtake him, for his tail darags along." He led us a chase six hours in full cry, Tally-ho Tally-ho! for now he must die. We will cut off his brush with a holloaing noise, And we'll drink a good health to the fox-hunting boys.
