Agronomy Update Greetings from the Agronomy Team!
The weather simply won’t let up this year. Following a beautiful weekend we face another week long stretch of rain, forecasted to begin this Thursday. Due to the remarkable rain totals this winter season, it has been a challenge to regularly mow and manicure our playing surfaces. Expect to find small portions of fairways uncut and reaching over one inch in height. Conditions in these areas are saturated to excess preventing any equipment access. This is most evident on holes 3, 4, 8, and 14, which have been restricted to “Cart Path Only” for several weeks. Please lift, clean, and place or take a drop if your ball comes to rest in these areas. Fortunately, the growing season steadily approaches, rain will cease, and temperatures will climb along with the vigor of our turfgrass. For now we will persevere through whatever Mother Nature brings! Please see climatic data from this winter season below: Did you know the Northern Sierra Region, where Winchester is located, is on track to break the seasonal precipitation record of 88.5” from 1982-1983?
