6 LI FEST Y LE NORTH W EST | W I NTER 2020

Something you see on a lot of holiday tables in Seattle is fresh salmon. Not quite sure which type to get? The most popular varieties are King, Coho, and Sockeye. The largest of the three, King Salmon, is the perfect option when you have a lot of mouths to feed. Coho Salmon has a deliciously delicate flavor and pairs beautifully with just about any grilled vegetable you can think of. Sockeye Salmon is the most common variety and is prized for its succulent, brightorange meat.

All of The Lights

Travel past iconic Seattle-area homes that have been transformed into winter wonderlands—all from the comfort and safety of your car!

Candy Cane Lane Park Rd NE and NE Ravenna Blvd, Seattle, WA 98105 Since 1949, Candy Cane Lane has been one of the most popular holiday traditions in Seattle. Located right off Ravenna Blvd, the charming row of 1920s-era homes is adorned with everything from twinkle lights and reindeer to mechanical decor and, of course, candy canes. Thousands come to visit during the month of December every year to see the displays, live bands, interactive photo opportunities, and more.

Farklezoo

Menashe Family Lights

14480 58th Ave. S., Tukwila, WA

5605 Beach Dr. SW., Seattle, WA

The most interactive of the bunch, Farklezoo is fully equipped with animated light displays that are synchronized to the music of your holiday favorites. Being named the “Most Technical” display in 2017 and “Most Visible From Space” in 2018, Farklezoo has been a tradition for over 20 years. The D’Oyley family encourages neighbors and visitors enjoying the festivities to bring food items for the local food pantry. This past year they were able to donate over 500 pounds of food and $400 cash.

Featured in an episode of ABC’s The Great Christmas Light Fight, the Menashe Family Lights is well-known and loved by locals. This West Seattle treasure takes seven people seven shifts, working 10-hour shifts, to complete the stunning display. Over 340,000 lights float throughout the property accompanied by plush Christmas characters, moving displays, and candy cane trees, all of which is certain to get you in the holiday spirit.

Keenerʼs Christmas Light Display 16504 112 Pl. N.E., Bothell, WA Drive under a 15-foot arch and be completely transported to a holiday heaven. Bothell homeowners Jeff and Candice Keener put up more than 500,000 lights for this one-of-a-kind experience. Their hard work is for a good cause: the display helps raise money for the Strong Against Cancer foundation and HopeLink of Kirkland.

Home for the Holidays Need some holiday tunes while driving around light displays or even just at home cuddled by the fire? Listen to our Home for the Holidays Spotify playlist, featuring a mix of holiday classics and modern favorites. Access the playlist by scanning the code on the left.
