Launches New-Look Door-Designer

Distinction Doors has made some key improvements to its online sales tool, the door-designer configurator, delivering a better user-experience for its customers and homeowners, says the company.

Developed in-house, the team has focussed on improving functionality, with a new design forming part of this development.

“We wished to make the door-designer even easier to use,” comments Bethaney Larkman, marketing manager at Distinction Doors. “This meant removing the complexity by streamlining options and adding new functions.”

The doors are split into three categories: nxt-gen, Signature and Contemporary. A search function is in the top menu bar if the user is seeking a certain door. The glass options show what’s currently available and are only relevant to that door style. The biggest challenge was reducing the load time. “We have not only increased the site load speed, but we can now use higher-quality images too,” continues Bethaney. “This means that consumers can now appreciate more of the detail, including our beautiful woodgrain finish, in higher-resolution door and glass images.

“To further encourage consumer engagement, we have improved the preview function. Users can tweak and re-size the door to suit their chosen house or sample image. We have also developed the site so that request a quote remains on the bottom of the door visual throughout so the user can enquire at any stage.”

The new ability to save orders and return to them later is perhaps the most valuable function. This should prove extremely popular with Distinction’s customers and their customers, saving them time and ultimately, money. FAQs and

New CAD Service From Premier Arches

Within the arched frame market, it can often be difficult to envisage what the exact product will look like before it’s been made, which can sometimes lead to misunderstandings between fabricators and their customers.

But thanks to a new full CAD service from arched and angled frame manufacturer Premier Arches, customers can see beforehand exactly what they’re getting.

The company manufactures arched, angled, gable, circular and entirely bespoke windows and doors in a range of systems, supplying to fabricators, installers and local builders across the UK.

Managing Director Sean Greenall comments: “One of our core principles at Premier Arches is to provide a ‘make life easier’ offering to our customers, and one way we achieve this is through our new free and professional CAD drawing service. This allows our customers to see exactly what they are getting before the manufacturing process, and also enables them to in turn show their customers what the finished frame will look like, thereby eliminating any confusion about the complex products we offer.

“Our CAD service is beneficial to both our customers and our manufacturing team, allowing for designs to easily be changed if needed, and also making it easier for our fabricators to collaborate with each other during the manufacturing process. In the long term, this will help our manufacturers work faster and smarter, reduce production costs, and ultimately lead to quicker project completion.”

“When it comes to profile bending, most fabricators simply don’t have the time or the tools to do this themselves, and so we aim to provide those unique products that they don’t want to make. It’s therefore vital that we make this process as easy as possible, and with our new CAD service, our customers can rest assured that they are getting the exact products they need, backed by honest and open customer service, and a ‘make life easier’ offering that will help them get ahead of the competition.”

New Website

And Rebrand For Jade Engineering

Jade Engineering has undergone a full redesign of the way the firm presents itself to the world. This includes a new website and fresh, new face for the firm, including a modernised version of the logo that will be found in the factories of many PVC-U and aluminium window and door fabricators in the UK.

The Jade name and brand are well known; so why bother now? Jade Engineering is one of the window and door industry’s most prolific brands but, says the firm’s owners, even Jade’s most ardent clients know little about them beyond their own specific touchpoint. All that is about to change, says Sean Mackey, who with partner Adam Jones has built Jade into the industry’s de facto machine tool supplier over the past 30 years: “Our machine tools are to be found in every PVC-U fabricator and the majority of aluminium frame makers too,” he explained. “But we often hear the phrase ‘I didn’t know you did that’ when we are simply chatting about day-to-day business issues. So we decided to up our game, and take the guesswork out of it,” added Sean.

In addition to the products for which they are best-known, Jade Engineering designs and manufactures a range of standalone, task-specific machines that, in an age of increasingly sophisticated CNC-controlled equipment, are known for their simple, effective, efficiency: “Our end millers, bead saws and more unusual kit such as the Jade Reverse Butt Cleaner, are inexpensive solutions to problems many fabricators often don’t know they have,” explained Adam. “Our new website will show the whole range, also including videos of some of the machines we supply.”

The website is divided into three main groups: Jade Tooling; Jade Machines; and the firm’s fast-growing Jade Consult division. This, says Sean, has been growing spectacularly and is what the website will probably explain the most effectively: “When chatting with customers, they will often mention a production issue that they have been unable to resolve,” said Sean. “We believe there is always a solution, and we will then design, manufacture and install it for the client. This has led to larger and more ambitious projects, now including a number of complete production lines and start-up factory kit outs. It’s very big business and we are the only firm that has the expertise to offer it. Tell us what you want, how much you have to spend and we will design, supply and commission it for you.”

In text, superb photography and HD video the new Jade Engineering website explains everything offered by the Coventry-based firm and presents it superbly, including some excellent case-studies contained in the website’s ‘Problem? Solved.’ section.

“We also felt that the time was right to redesign our overall image,” said Sean. “It’s fresher, clearer and better reflects what we are today.”

New Building Regulations Resource Page For CDW Customers

Aluminium specialist CDW Systems has made sure its customers know everything they need to about the imminent changes to Documents F and L of the building regulations.

The Gloucester-based company has created a new ‘Resources’ page on its website that includes summary documents that outline the key revisions to both.

In advance of the upcoming new regulations, which come into force on June 15, CDW Systems’ data sheets will supplement the changes, and the company’s group chairman Jeremy Phillips said: “At CDW we have always made sure our customers have the very latest guidance on regulations so they can successfully navigate any changes. ing Regulations, ultimately it’s the installers who are going to need to make sure they comply with the revisions. We know our customers will have questions relating to the changes, and these resources will help answer them.”

From June 15, all new homes must produce 31% less CO2 emissions than what is currently acceptable in the present Part L regulations. Therefore, the construction of new dwellings must comply with the increased energy performance standards as set in the new regulations.

Revisions to Part F see new ventilation requirements for new homes and existing ones come into force. It calls for greater air flow for new builds, while in the refurbishment market vents must be fitted as standard and if there are already vents, then the same sized vents can be fitted on the new windows. If the existing windows do not have vents, then the replacements must have vents fitted to meet the revised requirements.

CDW Systems is currently reviewing its product offering to ensure it can offer fully compliant windows and doors for all projects.

Jeremy said: “Our customers can rest assured that we have everything in place to help them navigate through the changes as easy as possible and we can provide them with the right advice, and they can discuss any aspect with us.”

Jeremy added: “We have always supported our customers with an evolving product range and expert advice, and we wanted to create a ‘Resources’ page to provide a single place where they can get that information.” https://bit.ly/3RZqXTK
