These clinics will build basic skills for preschoolers looking to get into basketball! Hitting The Fundamentals Basketball Clinic
This unique program is designed to break down different basketball skills to enhance each player’s overall game. Each week will focus on a different skill with drills, fun competitions (with prizes!), and game play, and at the end of each session, scrimmage games will emphasize teamwork and communication. Titan Crusaders NEW!
The Titan Crusaders program takes the fun and of our Ninja Warriors program and focuses on developing speed, agility, and coordination. Obstacles vary each week to challenge players in a fun and inviting setting, and the use of more traditional sports equipment and game balls will be used as well. Competitions and individual timed races will occur weekly, with players competing to improve their core athletic abilities while racing against the clock. Girls Multi-Sports
In this class participants to try new skills and achieve goals in an environment tailored for girls. The Olympic sport of fencing demands a blend of tactical and strategic thought and a physical execution of those decisions. This has led many to describe the sport as “physical chess.” Fencing also teaches balance and discipline and even more than this, it’s fun! This class is for those new to fencing or those who would like to work on the basic skills. This class will cover basic rules, etiquette, basic footwork, attacks and defenses. Classes will consist of warm up time, footwork time, group lesson and bouting. All equipment is provided. NOTE: Due to the personal nature of the equipment used for fencing, students will be issued a mask and a glove from Midwest Fencing Club during the rst class. Students will be responsible for this equipment for the duration of the session, taking it home and bringing it back for each class. Each fencer will be required to pay a $150 equipment deposit directly to Midwest Fencing Academy (cash or check) on the rst day, which will be returned when the equipment is turned in at the end of the session. Minor League Baseball
Minor League Baseball is an introductory t-ball program that is perfect for a child who wants to have fun, make new friends, and be introduced to baseball. Each participant will hit, eld, throw, catch and run bases in this fun- lled skills clinic. Participants are also introduced to the basic rules of the game. Join us for Pickleball! Invented in the mid1960s as a children’s backyard pastime, Pickleball has become popular with adults. Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two, three, or four players use solid paddles to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a wif e ball, over a net. Martial Arts
Traditional Karate emphasizes the principles and applications of a weaponless self-defense through the use of body dynamics and mental discipline. Participants learn alertness, self-control, and mental strategies to meet life’s challenges. There are 11 belt levels (kyu) before rst-degree Black belt (shodan). A new student is assigned the White belt rank (eleventh kyu). Students must ful ll speci c requirements under normal practice conditions and in a test environment for promotion up to and including the Black belt (dan). Ron, a national Karate champion, has taught at the Community House for over 20 years. A long standing member of the Japan Karate Association, he has taught around the world. TAEKWONDO
is a 2,000-year-old martial art that is accessible to people of all ages and physical abilities. Students can improve concentration, self-esteem, and achieve lifelong physical fitness while learning self-defense skills through Taekwondo. NOTE: A $50 uniform fee is required at the first class. Belt testing is offered through KH Kim Taekwondo at an additional fee and is held twice a year. All colored belt students are required to have complete sparring gear.
Little Dragons
This introductory class is designed to cap- tivate the interest of our youngest students. Skills are developed through gentle instruc- tion and appropriate games for their ability. This class focuses on developing balance, coordination and respect for the discipline of martial arts training.
