A COMMITMENT TO ART & ART MAKERS Our Programs and Instructors For over 80 years, WAG Studio has built a strong reputation for providing excellence in art instruction for children, teens, and adults. Classes incorporate current exhibitions with special tours, fostering a connection between the art on view in the galleries and the art created in the classrooms. All of our instructors have degrees and/or diplomas from universities or art colleges and many have master’s degrees and additional certification in education. While most work in private studios, instructors also bring experience as actors, administrators, art therapists, designers, and members of artist-run centres. For more information about our instructors, visit wag.ca/studio
Our Interim Location All art classes take place in the newly renovated space on the Gallery’s lower level. Public access is down the ramp of the WAG building on Colony St. This interim location accommodates Studio programs as the WAG works to develop the Inuit Art Centre – a state-of-the-art building that will house the Gallery’s celebrated collection of contemporary Inuit art and related programs. We eagerly await our new home in the penthouse level of the WAG where art education will expand with larger and more versatile spaces! If you have questions, please contact: Rachel Baerg, Head of Education at art-educator@wag.ca, or Diane Lafournaise, Manager of WAG Studio at studioprograms@wag.ca. Learn more about the Inuit Art Centre at inuit.wag.ca

Re-style your own garments with handmade flare, using fabric paint, printmaking, embroidery, sewn embellishments, or creative re-structuring. Students are encouraged to bring their own sewing machine.
For students with little or no drawing experience, this introduction to the fundamental techniques and concepts of drawing will sharpen observational skills and build confidence. This course takes place over two sessions – Fall 2017 and Winter 2018.
THE NEXT LEVEL Pre-requisite: Drawing Basics or equivalent experience The Figure in Art Using a variety of drawing materials, you will work from a model and learn about proportion, foreshortening, and other fundamental techniques for drawing the human form.
