Three Towers & Zigzag Podium

Wenli Lake Landmark Buildings Competition Proposal, Quzhou

Responsibility: 3D Modeling, 2D Drawings, Rendering, PS Enhancement.

Wenli Lake is an artificial lake bringing appeal to the HS Railway station. The competition result proposing a three-tower cluster with its permeable, slant podium aims to reorganize the current urban plan outcome and rally pedestrians to enjoy the stunning view of the lake. The 150m and 120m towers offer high-end office to situate future economic needs of the CBD, whilst 100m tower delivers 200+ 5-star standard guest rooms.

Our proposal aims to instil a landscape feel that stretching greenery from bottom to the lake shore up through zigzag podium to the top of podium. The zigzag podium operates as manmade mountains echoing Quzhou’s lavish mountain lore, providing mountain climbing space to pedestrians. Benefiting from the outdoor steps, meanwhile, sun light is able to easily penetrate through high-rise district and shine the shopping mall, library, gallery underneath.

Responsibility: 3D Modeling, 2D Drawings, PS Enhancement, Diagrams.

Sitting opposite the Xinyang HSR station, this project roles as the new portal of Xinyang’s economic vividity. It embodies several functions including living room of the city, workplace, hotel and commercial services. Moreover, it also plays a key role of transmission between the station and rest of the city.

Xinyang is a city full of charmful history and unique culture in terms its exceptional geographical location and cultural heritage. We are convinced that this project is determined to showcase Xinyang and its identity to visitors from the globe, thus intention of concept is retrieved from vernacular architecture such as pagoda and palace of ancient era.

I participated this project thoroughly from its initial city scale urban plan competition until the developed design stage of The towers and podium. I offered much of my skills of Photoshop skills and enriched myself at designing large scale commercial compound.

VILLAGE OF ANCIENT TREES BY STREAM

RIBA Ancient Tree Civilization Wellness Design Competition (Top 6)

Responsibility: 3D Modeling, 2D Drawings, PS Enhancement, Diagrams, Subimission.

The site sits peacefully in a southern China village, encircled by 300 invaluable ancient trees shipped from southeast Asia countries, this is their preserve land. Our proposal insists the means of least interruption of this peaceful joy of the ancient spirits. Therefore, we introduced wooden material and modern earthscape intervention, especially the zigzag hotel and individual guest rooms upon threes, to deal maximum outcome.

Positioned upstream, deep in the forest of ancient trees, we used a series of landscape installations to form the concept of “Ring of Clouds”. The “Ring of the Clouds” acts as the heart of the ancient tree village, becoming an anchor for the surrounding mountains, the villages on the mountain also radiate outwards from this focal point. It is the embodiment of the site.

Children's Centre in the Park (Refurbishment + Newly Built)

Responsibility: Concept Deisng, 3D Modeling, 2D Drawings, Rendering, PS Enhancement.

Located in Zibo’s famed kids’ garden, an abandoned kindergarten is underway to be converted into its new function, children’s restaurant. By its north accompanies other three functions, the Bookshelf, multipurpose hall and a small café. An accessible lying slab offers roof top playground, meanwhile, intertwines all four components as one.

As part of Zibo city council’s public service project, the New Oriental Sunrise approached Douxi Design to propose a new concept that is feasible to represent context and local values. After removal of its original ornaments, we place white Titanium-Zinc roof plates to replace its outdated glazed tiles. Simply painting outside and inside walls with emulsion paint to be outstanding of surrounding woods, grassland and lake. This refurbishment project is under construction along with new construction and due by 2023.
