Tournament Preparation Behind the scenes of the WINSTONgolf open 2013 Date: September 18th and 19th 2013 Speakers: Dirk Thelen, Andy Matzner, Ian Butcher Costs: 190€ (90€ without dinner and accommodation) WINSTONuniversity in partnership with WINSTONgolf offers you the opportunity to witness our course preparations for the 2013 WINSTONgolf Senior Open being played on September 6 th to 8th. We open our doors and allow you to see at first hand the long and short term preparations. We have unique insights from Tour players themselves, and practical demonstrations of Course Set-Up. Results depend on a team based approach and we bring different perspectives together so you can ask the questions that are relevant to your own golf club´s “Big Day”.

Schedule Tuesday 17th Arrival

You are welcome to arrive anytime during the day, check in at Schloss Basthorst and play Golf at either course, at a preferential rate of 50 % on either of the courses,using the term “WINSTONuniversity Guest”. Please pre- book at WINSTONgolf under Tel or email.

Speakers Andy Matzner

Andy will focus on WINSTONgolf objectives, techniques and organization of resources in preparation for the 2013 tournament. He will demonstrate how the course set up is conducted, and answer questions ranging from agronomy, team building and the realities of keeping WINSTONgolf in condition for members and visitors prior to the tournament.

Dirk Thelen


Dirk will explain the role of an Advisor in the build up to a tournament and the importance of having a good working relationship with the local Course Manager. The European Tour have their own performance criteria for event preparation, and this will be discussed in relation to the venues perspective.

Team Jacobsen

Jacobsen support WINSTONgolf in terms of the most modern fleet equipment and technology to produce the modern playing surfaces. They will provide a comparison of sharpening techniques to achieve long term results, and answer questions on the merits of relief grinding and other preparation practices .

Benefits and Costs Day Seminars costs â‚Ź 190,- including one night of accommodation, Dinner, Breakfast and Lunch. If you are not staying over night the cover charge is 90 â‚Ź including lunch. You are very welcome to book you round of golf at a 50% discount. Any additional night at Schloss Basthorst is offered at a 25% discount. The costs for a second participant from the same company reduce all seminar prices by 10%. Any accompanying person not attending the seminars receives a 25 % discount on the regular hotel prices.

The WINSTONuniversity campus is located near the city of Schwerin in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, on the premises of WINSTONgolf, host to the 2013 WINSTONgolf European Senior Open, Gut Vorbeck and Schloss Basthorst. Closest Airports are Lßbeck and Hamburg, an 1.5 hour’s drive by car. The airports of Berlin and Bremen are approximately 2.5 hours away.
