Erin Parish Slow April 23 - June 4, 2014 Opening Reception with the artist Wednesday, April 30, 6 – 8 pm Winston Wächter Fine Art is pleased to present Slow, an exhibition of recent paintings by painter Erin Parish. Please join us for the opening reception on Wednesday, April 30, from 6 – 8 pm. Colorful, effervescent, and imbued with a sense of movement, Parish’s abstract paintings invite quiet and lingering contemplation. Through the use of universal shapes like circles and through concepts found in Buddhism, Parish seeks to tap into a cosmic order and global connectivity with her images. The triptych format of many of her paintings further underscores their potential as sites of spiritualism, meditation, and nonverbal communication. “I am drawn to circles and geometric shapes. Circles are truly a universal symbol, occurring in nature on every level, from the microscopic to the planetary and beyond…These works are not about storytelling. Rather, they suggest the constant flux and decay of the universe and of cosmic moments frozen in time.” Parish’s painting process is not a means to an end, but integral to the final product. By gradually layering paint and resin on canvas, her paintings emerge over a period of months. “I begin with chaos and chance. I slowly bring order to my compositions and hone my paintings into their final state…For me, the circle making process is meditative.” Erin Parish’s work is exhibited both nationally and abroad. Her paintings are held in major public and corporate collections, including Barclays Capital, New York and Dubai, the Ritz Carlton, New York, Mt. Sinai Medical Center, New York, and Pfizer Inc., Westchester, NY.
